Bagai belut digetir ekornya, pembangkang yang sememangnya kini bertongkatkan ranting yang patah bagi menutup aib dan retak sesama mereka menderu membuat riuh bagi mengubah tumpuan rakyat dengan dakwaan Setiausaha Agung Parti Keadilan Nasional, Saifuddin Nasution bahawa saya mengubah pendirian apabila menggesa Kerajaan agar mengekalkan subsidi minyak RON95.

Kepada beliau saya mahu jelaskan bahawa saya bukan seperti pembangkang yang menjaja auta dan bertukar kulit di khalayak mereka yang ingin ditagih sokongannya. Pendirian saya adalah jelas dan konsisten, di mana subsidi adalah suatu perbelanjaan yang semestinya distrukturkan semula oleh Kerajaan memandangkan ia bukannya suatu perbelanjaan produktif.

Malahan pada masa ini, hanya 3 peratus sahaja daripada penerima subsidi yang sebenarnya tergolong dikalangan rakyat miskin. Mesej ini adalah suatu yang konsisten dan jelas saya utarakan semasa saya masih menjadi Naib Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia, hingga kini, termasuklah di medan Dewan Rakyat, dan yang mutakhir adalah di dalam akhbar The Edge cetakan minggu ini – mungkin beliau tidak membaca penerbitan sedemikian kerana ia bersifat fakta dan bukannya fatamorgana.

Namun, usaha ke arah itu haruslah mengikut turutan dan keutamaan terutama sekali apabila rakyat sedang bergelut dengan kos sara hidup dengan kenaikan harga barang makanan yang mencecah 11 peratus. Gesaan saya supaya subsidi RON95 tidak dikurangkan buat masa ini langsung tidak bercanggah dengan pendirian saya bahawa subsidi akhirnya perlu distrukturkan semula supaya lebih tepat sasarannya kepada mereka yang layak menerima dan mengurangkan beban defisit kepada perbelanjaan Kerajaan. Cuma, berdasarkan pengalaman lepas dan mengambil kira beban yang dihadapi rakyat hari ini, saya bantah kenaikkan harga RON95 dalam masa yang terdekat.

Apakah salah bagi mana-mana ahli politik mengubah pendirian atau pendekatannya sekiranya itulah yang dianggap terbaik untuk rakyat? Saifuddin patut menyokong pendirian saya membantah pengurangkan subsidi RON95 dan bukannya menyerang saya secara peribadi. Apakah beliau khuatir dengan peranan yang dimainkan oleh Pemuda UMNO dalam menyuarakan pandangan rakyat jelata?

Saya nak ingatkan Saifuddin yang barangkali tergolong di kalangan orang Melayu yang mudah lupa, ramai ahli politik mengubah pendirian dan pendekatan mereka tanpa segan silu. Saifuddin juga tidak
terkecuali. Beliau satu masa dahulu pernah dengan lagak sombong dan samseng, mengetuai gerombolan pemuda yang telah merusuh untuk memberhentikan satu persidangan mengenai Timor Timur sewaktu beliau masih bersama UMNO. Namun, selepas menyertai PKR, beliau memutar pendirian 180 darjah dalam isu ini, menjadi hero kepada kebebasan bersuara dan menuding jari kepada pihak lain yang kononnya mengarahkan beliau menyerang peserta-peserta persidangan tersebut.

Pokoknya di sini, terdapat perbezaan ketara antara pendirian saya dengan Saifuddin di mana saya tidak pernah menggadai prinsip dan persoalan pokok. Saya bersuara demi kesejahteraan rakyat walaupun masih komited terhadap usaha jangka masa panjang untuk memperbaiki sistem subsidi yang sedia ada. Sekiranya, Saifuddin masih besikap ego dan menyerang saya, saya cuma minta rakyat nilai. Apa salahnya sekiranya pendekatan saya berubah sedikit setelah mendapat pengalaman dari sejarah? Apa gunanya semalam jika bukan untuk sandaran dan petunjuk ari ini? Bukankah Saifuddin juga belajar dari pengalaman beliau atau adakah beliau juga mengambil kesempatan politik untuk menjadi hero kebebasan bersuara sekiranya kita mengguna logik yang sama?

Tampak jelas, pembangkang umpama ayam yang terkecundang. Maka atas sebab itu dan oleh kerana tiada saingan idea atau pendapat bernas yang dapat ditawarkan, maka bertempiklah Saifuddin bagi menempa nama sebagai hero pembangkang dengan suara dan lagu sumbang di pentas yang sudah roboh.

The High Court will hear on Jan 27 Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim's application to amend certain parts of his statement of claim in his defamation suit against Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.

The application will be heard before High Court Deputy Registrar Fa'erah Nurul Aini Izany.

The deputy registrar set the date in chambers after meeting Anwar's counsel Gobind Singh Deo, Malik Imtiaz Sarwar and S Prakash, and Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, representing Khairy.

The hearing of the suit had been fixed for two days from April 13 before High Court judge Dr Prasad Sandosham Abraham.

Anwar, 63, filed the suit on Sept 7, 2007, claiming that Khairy, who was then Umno Youth deputy chief, had defamed him at a political function in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, in August 2007.

He said the defamatory statements were carried by the print and electronic media on Aug 3, 2007.
Agent of US and Jews

Anwar claimed that the statements portrayed him as a politician who could not be trusted by the Malays, who did not give importance to the struggle of the Malays and their rights, and that he was capable of betraying the Malay struggle and rights just to get the support of the non-Malays.

The PKR advisor contended that Khairy had made the statements to insinuate that Anwar was a political agent of the United States and the Jews, as well as to ruin his political career, and that he had ill-intention when making the statements, which he said were lies, baseless and without truth.

Besides general, aggravated and exemplary damages and other relief deemed fit by the court, Anwar is also seeking an injunction to prevent Khairy or his agents from repeating the statements.

JOHOR BARU: MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong, describing his Umno counterpart as “a good comrade”, said Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin should reconsider his stand about staying out of the next general election.

“He should reconsider his decision as he can still contribute towards youth development in the country,” Dr Wee said, adding that Malaysians needed the youthful leadership Khairy had shown since becoming MP and leading the Umno Youth wing.

“In politics, there are ups and downs but he should never give up,” he told The Star yesterday.

Khairy was reported as saying on Saturday that he would take a break from politics and not defend his Rembau parliamentary seat at the next general election.

His announcement prompted Barisan Nasional Youth chief strategist Foo Seck Chyn to persuade Khairy not to quit as he could help improve the political scenario in Malaysia.

Foo cited, among Khairy’s contributions, his work to help less fortunate families and the setting up of the Barisan Youth lab to study the concerns of the country’s young people.

“I will be meeting him (Khairy) this week to discuss the matter.

“I seriously hope he will reconsider his decision as he has still a lot to contribute to the rakyat,” he said.

Sinar Harian hari ini melaporkan Ahli Parlimen Rembau, Khairy Jamaluddin mahu semua pihak “hentikan spekulasi,” sebagai mengulas beberapa laporan menyatakan beliau tidak akan bertanding dalam pilihan raya umum akan datang.

Khairy berkata, apa yang penting adalah amanah yang diberikan oleh rakyat dan pucuk pemimpin dalam memberikan khidmat terbaik sebagai Ahli Parlimen.

“Saya dah cakap apa yang saya nak cakap, yang paling penting kita buat kerja untuk pastikan kemenangan Barisan Nasional (BN) pada Pilihan Raya Umum nanti.

“Jangan risau, saya pasti akan kerja keras membantu Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak bagi menarik sokongan gologan muda,” Katanya ketika ditemui Sinar Harian di pejabatnya, semalam.

Khairy berkata, apa yang penting sekarang adalah kerjasama semua pihak terutama parti terutamanya parti-parti komponen bagi membawa kemenangan untuk BN.

“Adalah lebih baik menghentikan spekulasi. Bekerja lebih keras adalah perkara utama yang perlu dilakukan,”katanya.

Katanya, sesiapa yang menjadi calon bagi BN akan di tentukan oleh Najib yang juga Pengerusi BN dan bukan individu terbabit yang menawarkan diri.

Pengerusi Badan Perhubungan UMNO Negeri dan Presiden parti komponen boleh mencadangkan mana-mana individu yang difikirkan sesuai dan layak sebagai Ahli Parlimen dan Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN).

“Nama yang dicadangkan itu tidak bermakna akan dipilih sebagai calon kerana beberapa saringan ketat akan dilakukan sebelum diputuskan Perdana Menteri sendiri,” katanya.

GEORGE TOWN, 7 Dis — Calon yang akan dicadang Pergerakan Pemuda Umno pada pilihan raya umum akan datang adalah daripada kalangan mereka berkemahiran tinggi dan disenangi, kata Ketuanya Khairy Jamaluddin.
Beliau berkata mereka juga tidak semestinya berjawatan tinggi tetapi harus tahu tanggungjawab sebagai wakil rakyat.

“Saya tidak lihat kepada aspek yang hanya tahu mengampu Khairy Jamaluddin sahaja, lihat dari pelbagai aspek dan yang penting calon yang bakal dipilih itu disenangi rakyat.

“Selain itu calon itu juga harus tahu mengaplikasi laman-laman sosial seperti Facebook kerana di situlah caranya untuk kita meraih sokongan dari golongan muda,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Majlis Berkhatan Perdana Parlimen Bukit Gelugor, di sini hari ini.

Beliau diminta mengulas kenyataan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak bahawa satu mekanisme khusus akan diwujudkan oleh Barisan Nasional (BN) dalam pemilihan calon untuk pilihan raya umum akan datang bagi menggantikan pemilihan yang dibuat oleh parti komponen atau presiden sebelum ini.

Mengulas perkembangan lain, Khairy yang Ketua Pemuda BN berkata sayap itu akan meneruskan program khidmat sosial yang dilaksanakan sekarang bagi mendekati rakyat, sesuai dengan aspirasi “Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan”.

“Kami tidak mahu sekadar beretorik, membuat kenyataan media dalam isu-isu politik, lebih baik memberi tumpuan dan fokus kepada khidmat masyarakat sekurang-kurangnya kami berusaha untuk menyelesaikan masalah mereka.

“Rakyat mahu pemimpin yang boleh menyelesaikan masalah dan prihatin dengan kesulitan yang dihadapi bukan hanya berjanji kosong,” katanya.

No bus, so Khairy walks to Parliament House.

KUALA LUMPUR: Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin walked to Parliament House when he was unable to get a bus after getting off the light rail transit (LRT) at Masjid Jamek.

He hopped on the LRT after a dialogue session with the Youth and Sports Ministry’s Youth Development Trans formation Laboratory in Bukit Jalil near lunch hour.

“Going to see how close we can get to Parliament without car or taxi,” he posted on Twitter yesterday.

Relating his experience further, he said, when he arrived at the Masjid Jamek station, he wanted to see if there was any bus that could take him to Parliament House.

However, no one could tell him the location of the nearest bus stop.

He then started to walk and reached Pasar Seni but failed to find a bus stop.

He then decided to walk all the way to Parliament House.

NOV 30 — Khairy Jamaluddin suatu ketika boleh dikatakan antara orang yang paling dibenci dan dimusuhi dalam arena politik Malaysia. Dilihat sebagai anak menantu kepada Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Perdana Menteri Malaysia ke 5, Khairy menjadi sasaran utama pihak pembangkang yang mengambarkan bahawa dia merupakan individu yang mempengaruhi hampir kesemua keputusan kerajaan. Tidak cukup dengan itu Khairy juga mendapat tentangan sengit dari dalam Umno apabila persepsi umum ahli parti menganggap Khairy sebagai salah satu faktor utama kekalahan teruk Barisan Nasional pada pilihanraya umum yang ke 12.

Penulis diminta oleh penyunting untuk menulis sebuah analisis tentang perubahan suasana politik semenjak berlakunya tsunami 2008. Namun kali ini, sedikit luar dari kebiasaan, saya ingin melihat kembali dan merencana perjalanan ahli politik muda yang sering mendapat perhatian. Setelah dipukul teruk oleh gelombang perubahan politik tanah air kemana telah dia tuju dan berada sekarang. Inilah kisah perjalanan saudara Khairy Jamaluddin selepas tsunami dari sudut pandangan penulis.

Pemilihan Ketua Pemuda Umno

Ketika itu Pak Lah sudah mengumumkan bahawa dia tidak akan mempertahankan jawatanya di dalam Umno. Ramai menjangkakan yang ini menandakan tamatnya perjalanan politik Khairy Jamaluddin yang dilihat bergantung kepada bapa mertuanya. Namun, luar dari jangkaan dia telah memenangi dalam pertandingan tiga penjuru merebut jawatan Ketua Pemuda Umno. Keputusan pemilihan yang dianggap sebagai kontroversi sehingga Khairy Jamaluddin di herdik ketika namanya diumumkan dalam mesyuarat pehimpunan agung Umno sejurus selepas pemilihan sayap pemuda. Malah dilihat Khairy akan menghadapi masaalah memimpin sayap pemuda apabila jumlah undi yang diterimanya adalah kurang dari separuh dari jumlah keseluruhan perwakilan, bermakna majoriti pada ketika itu tidak menyokong beliau.

Berhadapan dengan masaalah percakaran dan perpecahan dalam Pemuda Umno setelah tamat pemilihan, Khairy juga terpaksa menghadapi soal persepsi umum apabila nama beliau tidak disenaraikan dalam kabinet manakala timbalan beliau Razali Ibrahim dan saingan dalam pemilihan Mukhriz Mahathir dilantik menjadi timbalan menteri. Berhadapan dengan pelbagai halangan dan tentangan dari dalam dan luar parti, ramai yang mula mempersoalkan tentang masa depan politik Khairy dan juga Pemuda Umno sendiri.

Selangkah demi selangkah

Walaupun pada awalnya nampak seolah semuanya telah berakhir bagi graduan dari Oxford ini, namun sedikit demi sedikit persepsi dan pandangan terhadap beliau ini berubah. Titik permulaan perubahan adalah apabila Khairy Jamaluddin telah pergi berdepan dengan Naib Presiden PAS ketika itu, Datuk Husam Musa di Balai Islam Kota Baru. Dikelilingi dengan ribuan penyokong tegar PAS dan tajuk perdebatan yang langsung tidak menyebelahi Umno Khairy telah berjaya mematahkan banyak hujah Husam Musa dan memerangkap Husam dengan beberapa kenyataanya yang boleh dikatakan memakan diri. Malah ada yang beranggap bahawa antara faktor kegagalan Husam merebut jawatan timbalan presiden PAS adalah kerana beberapa kenyataan yang dikeluarkan beliau dalam perdebatan ini.

Penulis adalah ahli Pemuda Umno bahagian Gombak. Ketika waktu pemilihan jangan dikatakan undi malah cadangan pencalonan pun tidak ada seorang berani mencadangkan nama Khairy. Akan tetapi selang beberapa minggu selepas perdebatan di Kota Bahru dihebohkan, timbul kenyataan yang dikeluarkan oleh salah seorang pemimpin tempatan yang menyatakan,

“Ye lah, kalau nak diikutkan aku pun tak berapa nak suka dengan KJ, tapi kalau suruh aku pilihlah siapa nak pergi jumpa debat dengan pembangkang, antara Mukhriz, Khir Toyo dengan KJ, aku pilih KJ.”

Dari disitu penulis dapat melihat perubahan pandangan akar umbi sudah bermula, malah dengan mengambil pendekatan yang lebih merendah diri seperti terbang menaiki kelas ekonomi, atau sama-sama turun padang bermain bola bersama pemuda kampung, berani dan selalu berhadapan dengan perbincangan dan forum dilihat watak dari Menantu Pak Lah sudah mula terhakis dan Khairy sebagai seorang pemimpin sudah mula muncul. Penulis menganggap penglibatan Khairy dalam filem pendek “Teksi” untuk siri 15 Malaysia merupakan salah satu faktor yang memerikan kesan yang sangat ketara dalam perubahan persepsi terhadap beliau terutama di kalangan anak muda. Boleh dikatakan sebagai sesuatu yang baik apabila Khairy tidak dilantik sebagai seorang menteri kabinet kerana tumpuan yang lebih diberikan dalam memperkukuhkan kembali sokongan Pemuda terhadapa Umno dan BN.

Penyatuan Pemuda Umno

Selepas pemilihan umum diketahui Pemuda Umno berpecah kepada tiga, malah dari segi kepimpinan exco pemuda, tidak ada mana-mana satu kem sekalipun yang berjaya menguasai barisan kepimpinan. Pada awalnya perpecahan ini memang jelas ketara, apabila sesetengah exco dan ketua pemuda bahagian memboikot acara tertentu kerana ianya dianjurkan oleh orang-orang tertentu.

Namun Umno mempunyai budaya pragmatiknya sendiri. Sebagaimana gambar Anwar Ibrahim masih lagi tergantung di ibu pejabat Pemuda Umno sebagai mantan Ketua Pemuda, sebagai itulah semangat “pragmatism” Umno itu sendiri. Hakikatnya adalah umur Mukhriz dan Khir Toyo telah melepasi had untuk bertanding semula jawatan Ketua Pemuda Umno dalam penggal berikutnya, atau dilihat sebagai tidak lagi sesuai oleh itu tidak timbul soal untuk kumpulan tertentu untuk mencabar kedudukan semula. Ditambah semula dengan cabaran dan tentangan yang dihadapi dengan kekalahan di 5 buah negeri melihat bahawa majoriti pemuda sudah penat untuk berperang sesama sendiri dan lebih berminat dalam bersatu untuk mendapatkan kembali tampuk pemerintahan di negeri-negeri yang telah tewas.

Ini dapat dilihat dengan jelas dalam beberapa siri kempen pilihanraya kecil bermula dengan Manik Urai dan Bagan Pinang apabila kerjasama antara kepimpinan Pemuda mempengaruhi kemenangan di kesemua saluran undi muda. Malah dapat kita lihat dari segi rombakan jawatan exco pemuda Umno bagi menghadapi suasana politik baru mula menampakan hasil terutama dari segi penceramahan dan propaganda di alam maya. Dapat kita melihat pemimpin-pemimpin pemuda yang dahulunya mati-mati menentang Khairy kini sudah mula berkerjasama dengan Khairy atas kedudukan beliau sebagai Ketua Pemuda.

Perkasa

Nampak seolah penentang utama Khairy bukan dari dalam Umno mahupun dari Pakatan Rakyat akan tetapi dari sebuah NGO iaitu Perkasa. Pergeseran terbuka antara pengerusi Perkasa Ibrahim Ali dan Khairy dalam media massa menggusarkan segelintir akar umbi dalam Umno yang menyokong sesetengah pendirian Perkasa. Namun sekiranya dilihat secara halus sebenarnya pertembungan dan pebezaan pendapat antara kedua-dua pihak ini member manafaat kepada kedua-dua belah pihak. Pertamanya Umno yang membuktikan kepada parti komponen yang ianya teguh bersama Barisan Nasional manakala Perkasa membuktikan bahawa ianya sememangnya sebuah NGO yang tidak mempunyai sebarang ikatan.

Ada yang mengatakan bahawa Khairy mungkin kehilangan sokongan dalam Pemuda atas pertembungan ini namun penulis bependapat bahawa perkara itu tidak semestnya belaku. Kerana sering berlaku pendirian paradoks dalam politik Umno dan politik Melayu. Jangan terkejut sekiranya seorang pemuda, yang menyokong pendirian Perkasa boleh pada masa yang sama mengundi Khairy Jamaluddin. Pendirian beliau dalam mempertahankan beberapa isu Melayu seperti diskaun Bumiputera membuatkan hasrat penentangan terus dari akar umbi Umno sebagaimana yang diharapkan sesetengah pihak tertentu tidak berlaku.

Kesimpulan

Untuk mengatakan Khairy sudah bejaya membebaskan dirinya dari persepsi dan belenggu pandangan sejarah adalah meleset sama sekali. Sehingga hari ini masih giat gerakan dari dalam dan luar Umno itu sendiri yang menentang kedudukannya sebagai Ketua Pemuda, ini jelas dapat dilihat dalam kempen di internet melobi untuk dia tidak dilantik menjadi menteri kabinet. Walaupun semakin ramai pemimpin pemuda yang sudah mula berkerjasama dengan beliau namun masih ramai yang gusar dilihat secara terus takut-takut dilabel dan diserang sekali kerana masuk kedalam kem Khairy. Malah penulis sendiri mungkin akan dilabel mahupun dikritik oleh kerana menulis mengenai Khairy. Namun suka atau tidak, kita perlu mengakui bahawa pandangan dan perspektif terhadap Khairy Jamaluddin adalah bebeza sekarang berbanding dahulu. Rata-rata akar umbi pemuda Umno merasakan penat dan bosan dengan peperangan dalaman, dari segi jentera pemuda sehinggalah ke exco-exco ebih berminat dalam menentang Pakatan Rakyat dari Ketua Pemuda Umno.

ALOR SETAR, 15 NOVEMBER, 2010: Kedah Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid today called on all quarters to learn from the recent flood situation in the state and ensure that their action transcended political ideologies.

The assemblyman for Pedu said action taken during the recent floods showed the extent of work done by any leader.

"During the 10 days of floods, I asked myself how the people fared. I hope that in the future, action should transcend political ideologies.

"We have all gone through a process where it is difficult to resolve all problems and satisfy everyone, but the people should benefit from what has been done," he said during the debate on the motion of thanks for the royal address by Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah of Kedah in opening the budget session of
the state assembly.

On the rise in water tariffs in the state effective Oct 1, Mahdzir said the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) state government should not be accused of irregularities.

"Why must the PAS government (of Kedah) claim that the construction of the water treatment plant in Padang Sanai is too expensive when it was decided by the technical committee? I sense a malicious intent here and I hope that such a perception should not be assumed (with regard to the previous government)," he said.

Earlier, State Industry and Investment, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology, Water and Energy Resources Committee Chairman Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah said one reason for raising the water tariffs was the RM1.82 billion the state government owed the federal government.

The PAS state government had to bear the debt after having taken over the state administration because the repayments were not made as scheduled by the BN state government, he said when replying to a question from Mahdzir on the rationale for the increase in water tariffs.

Khairy Jamaluddin : Gelagat Kerajaan Negeri Pakatan Rakyat.

Mutakhir ini kita dikejutkan dengan beberapa insiden dan isu yang mempamerkan betapa Kerajaan Negeri di bawah Pakatan Rakyat antara tidak telus dan tidak kompeten melaksanakan tanggungjawab mentadbir negeri.

Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia, Khairy Jamaluddin berkata, di Selangor, kepimpinan YAB Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim sudah lama dipersoalkan, termasuk oleh pemimpin tertinggi Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) sendiri. Skandal perlombongan pasir haram yang melanda kepimpinan Tan Sri Khalid menjadi episod terbaru dalam siri insiden pentadbiran longgar Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat Selangor.

Apa yang menimbulkan kekesalan di kalangan rakyat bukan sekadar kejadian perlombongan pasir haram yang merugikan rakyat serta mengancam alam sekitar, malah juga respon dari Kerajaan Negeri yang seakan berada dalam sindrom penafian. Daripada kenyataan beliau, Tan Sri Khalid seperti tidak tahu menahu mengenai apa yang sebenarnya berlaku.

Contohnya, laporan media pada 12 Julai yang mendedahkan aktiviti perlombongan pasir haram di Kampung Bukit Changgang dinafikan langsung oleh Tan Sri Khalid. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu mengatakan bahawa gambar-gambar dalam akhbar harian sebenarnya menunjukkan aktiviti perlombongan di Kampung Olak Lempit, sungguhpun 30 wartawan akhbar telah pergi ke lokasi perlombongan haram itu sendiri. Kemudian kita dimaklumkan bahawa sebenarnya memang wujud aktiviti perlombongan yang dibenarkan Kerajaan Negeri di Kampung Bukit Changgang Persoalannya, apakah kualiti kepimpinan Kerajaan Negeri Selangor sedangkan Menteri Besarnya sendiri seperti keliru lokasi sebenar aktiviti perlombongan di negeri sendiri?

Tidak cukup dengan itu, pada 17 Julai, Tan Sri Khalid tanpa segan silumenafikan sebarang pengetahuan wujudnya kontraktor-kontraktor kecil yang menjadi "orang tengah" dalam kegiatan perlombongan pasir di Selangor. Menjadi satu kekhuatiran yang cukup besar bagi rakyat sekiranya fenomena asas seperti kewujudan kontraktor kecil pun tidak diketahui seorang Menteri Besar. Bayangkan sahaja, apakah lagi yang sedang berlaku tanpa pengetahuan Menteri Besar Selangor?

Barangkali sebab ketidakmampuan pentadiran Kerajaan Negeri, mereka telah memohon bantuan Kerajaan Pusat untuk menyelesaikan masalah pasir ini. Anehnya, dalam isu pembinaan loji rawatan air pula, Kerajaan Negeri enggan bekerjasama dengan Kerajaan Pusat sungguhpun krisis bekalan air di Selangor agak genting sehingga mampu menyebabkan pencaturan air pada tahun 2014. Di manakah keikhlasan Kerajaan Negeri Selangor sekiranya perkara yang membabitkan kepentingan langsung rakyat seperti bekalan air pun cuba dipolitikkan?

Kalau Menteri Besar Selangor dengan gelagatnya yang tidak kompeten dan tidak tahu apa yang berlaku di negeri sendiri, Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang pula mempamerkan sikap seorang yang tidak layak digelar pemimpin, jauh lagi seorang negarawan. YAB Lim Guan Eng menyerang habis-habisan Nik Ali Mat Yunus, seorang Pegawai Kemajuan Negeri (SDO) gara-gara beberapa isu termasuklah kes kecurian pasir di tapak cadangan membina politeknik di Balik Pulau atas tanah milik Kerajaan Pusat, sungguhpun aspek pemantuan adalah di bawah bidangkuasa agensi Kerajaan Negeri. Apapun isu yang menimbulkan konflik antara Lim Guan Eng dan Nik Ali, seorang Ketua Menteri tidak wajar menyerang keperibadian seorang penjawat awam dengan menggunakan ungkapan seperti "tidak berguna", "lidah biawak" dan "pengecut".

Apakah jenis pemimpin sekiranya seorang SDO pun habis dimaki? Lim Guan Eng sepatutnya memfokuskan masa dan usaha kepada isu-isu lain yang membabitkan kepentingan rakyat Pulau Pinang, bukannya menyerang keperibadian kakitangan awam. Kenyataan-kenyataan Lim Guan Eng menggambarkan seorang manusia yang cepat melatah dan mudah membenci. Beliau juga perlu akur bahawa kakitangan awam merupakan nadi pentadbiran sesebuah Kerajaan, dan mereka tidak wajar dipandang serong oleh ahli politik seperti Lim Guan Eng yang menggambarkan mereka ini seolah-olah mendapat bayaran lumayan tetapi tidak mendatangkan apa-apa kebaikan untuk rakyat.

Semua perkembangan ini menggambarkan Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat yang tidak kompeten dalam melaksanakan amanah selaku pemimpin. Sikap bongkak, kabur fakta, malahan biadap yang dipamerkan sudah cukup menimbulkan tanda tanya sejauh mana kemampuan pentadbiran Pakatan Rakyat. Jika setakat memimpin beberapa buah negeri pun sudah menimbulkan pelbagai masalah, kita wajar mempersoalkan kesediaan mereka untuk memegang tampuk kepimpinan pusat.

Kerajaan Selangor telah berjanji untuk memberikan sebanyak 20 liter padu air percuma pada semua isi rumah Selangor pada Pilihanraya yang lepas. Janji ini telah terlaksana namun dasar yang dirancangkan tidak diikuti dengan perlaksanaan yang baik. Rumah-rumah pangsapuri dan flat menggunakan sistem meter pukal, yang mana satu bangunan yang mempunyai isi rumah yang ramai berkongsi satu meter. Oleh kerana dalam penggubalan dasar oleh kerajaan selangor yang mana air percuma diberikan berdasarkan meter, rumah pangsapuri yang mempunyai 100 keluarga mendapat jumlah air percuma sama banyak dengan satu rumah teres satu keluarga kerana mempunyai satu meter. Ini merupakan satu ketidak adilan bagi mereka kerana mereka juga berhak mendapat janji kerajaan selangor.

Masalah

Masalah dengan mudah boleh selesai sekiranya Kerajaan Selangor memberikan subsidi berdasarkan isi rumah dan isu penukaran kepada meter individu sepatutnya tidak timbul. Ini kerana pegawai daerah dan syabas sendiri boleh memberikan bil kepada Kerajaan Selangor berdasarkan jumlah isi rumah. Sebagai contoh, satu pangsapuri 50 rumah, akan diberikan air percuma atau pelepasan bil sebanyak 20 Meter x 50 isi rumah, selebihnya barulah dimasukkan ke dalam bil. Disyaki kerajaan selangor ralat hendak bebuat begini untuk tidak menambahkan bebadan membayar subsidi air.

Langkah Kerajaan Negeri tidak Berkesan

Kerajaan negeri memperkenalkan sistem kupon yang mana setiap isi rumah pangsapuri akan mendapat kupon sebagai bauchar (voucher) ketika membayar bil air. Akan seperti biasa masaalah timbul pada perlaksanaan. Sebagai contoh ambil petikan dari ADUN Bukit Antarabangsa dan Ahli Parlimen Gombak saudara Azmin Ali .

1. Kerajaan Negeri telah memulakan langkah yang lebih proaktif dengan mengeluarkan kupon untuk mendapatkan air percuma bagi penduduk-penduduk rumah pangsa kos rendah. Saya berharap program ini akan meliputi semua rumah pangsa dalam Negeri Selangor tanpa perlu menunggu pilot project.

2. Dalam sesi yang lepas, Dewan telah pun meluluskan perbekalan tambahan untuk tujuan yang sama berjumlah RM 69 juta dengan harapan masalah air ini boleh diselesaikan sebelum bulan September 2010. Namun, hari ini Dewan pohon lagi peruntukan tambahan bagi meneruskan program untuk kesejahteraan rakyat Negeri Selangor.

Masaalah yang timbul di sini ialah pembahagian Voucer masih lagi tidak diedarkan secara keseluruhan dan lambat menyebabkan kemarahan rakyat.

Kebanyakan penduduk Flat dan pangsapuri adalah mereka yang terdiri dari golongan berpendapatan rendah jadi mereka inilah yang paling memerlukan subsidi air. Bukan sahaja subsidi mereka ditipu bebadan ditambah kepada mereka apabila kerajaan selangor meningkatkan kadar sewa rumah PPR sebanyak 100%, ini bererti air diberikan kepada orang berada, duit diambil dari orang miskin

KUANTAN, 4 Dis (Bernama) -- Tindakan Kerajaan Negeri Selangor menaikkan kadar sewa rumah Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) daripada RM124 kepada RM250 sebulan tidak wajar, kata Timbalan Menteri Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin.

Walaupun kerajaan memberi kuasa kepada pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT) untuk menguruskan hal berkaitan rumah PPR namun ini tidak bererti pihak terbabit boleh menaikkan kadar sewa rumah tanpa memikirkan kebajikan rakyat.

Kami telah mendapat maklumam bahawa beberapa kain rentang yang menghentam kerajaan selangor mengenai isu ini telah muncul di kawasan perumahan pangsapuri PARLIMEN GOMBAK dan HULU KELANG kami percaya ini adalah luahan hati penduduk di kawasan berkenaan atas kegagalan kerajaan negeri Selangor yang diterajui PR telah menipu hak mereka. Khairy Jamaluddin : New ways needed to create a strong BCIC

In case you missed it, I have been embroiled in a war of words with the Member of Parliament for Pasir Mas, Datuk Ibrahim Ali, lately. What began with my criticism of his unfounded attack on my MCA counterpart's remarks about government scholarships quickly descended into an admittedly juvenile rally of name-calling and petty insults.

But sometimes, in politics, a brusque and unrefined approach is a necessity, especially when dealing with individuals who embody the uncouth and only understand the language of confrontation. But beyond the derogatory labels we gave one another, my spat with Ibrahim goes to the core of the modern Malay dilemma that is at the epicentre of our nation's survival.

As far as the future of the Malay economy is concerned, Ibrahim represents the orthodox school, while I bat for the reformists. In a nutshell, he believes that there should be more of the same old affirmative action and I want radical changes to policy instruments that have in part failed in their objective of creating a competitive bumiputera commercial and industrial community (BCIC). He has also gone about his business in a rather nasty manner with rhetoric that, to me, falls foul of the inclusiveness inherent in 1Malaysia. Predictably, however, for emotional and political reasons, many have jumped on his orthodox bandwagon that will only perpetuate the Malay siege mentality characterised by mediocrity and dependency.

Let me say this clearly; fundamentally, I do not have an issue with the objectives of Ibrahim and his associates. I too want to see an economically developed bumiputera community. They are correct in frequently quoting the Yale law professor Amy Chua, who has written about the politically and socially destabilising effects of economies that have market dominant minorities. I also want to see a reduction in income disparity, especially across ethnic lines since racial identity markers result in potentially combustible groupthink.

But our paths diverge on how we go about achieving these aims. I have examined in some detail the resolutions adopted by both Perkasa and the Majlis Perundingan Melayu (MPM), which are both led by Ibrahim. These are well-meaning if somewhat misguided documents that attempt to defend the Malay community from the New Economic Model that they perceive relies too much on the market and therefore will eventually result in Malays falling further behind economically. Among the specific measures the resolutions demand are for the nation’s wealth to be divided according to demographic representation, the continuation of ethnic quotas in strategic sectors and that the government not abolish quotas for open approved permits (APs) for used cars given to bumiputera companies.

The entire tenor of the resolutions is very much an extension of what there already is – quotas, government intervention and enforcing the bumiputera agenda across the entire economy. On the plus side, the resolutions recognise a wider benchmark for bumiputera economic success that goes beyond corporate equity ownership (the sacred 30% target of the New Economic Policy) and includes income, real estate and intellectual property.

Notwithstanding, the more all-encompassing view of economic advancement, the resolutions do not examine the fundamental flaws inherent in the existing affirmative action programme. They call for an intensification of same old policy instruments that are no longer, and probably never really were, effective. For instance, the resolutions speak of the need to continue the strategy of growth and distribution – in simple terms, enlarging the cake and giving more of the extra bits to the bumiputera community.

They fail to acknowledge the fact that the period during which growth was at its highest also saw a stagnation in bumiputera corporate equity and a deterioration of inter-ethnic income. From 1990 to 1999, despite high growth rates for most of that decade, bumiputera corporate ownership fell from 19.3% to 19.1%. In terms of inter-ethnic income inequality, between 1987 and 1997, when growth rates were at 10.1%, the ratio of average Chinese to bumiputera household income went up to 1.83 from 1.65 in 1987. This in itself illustrates that the existing policy instruments did not work as they should have, otherwise we would have hit the magical 30% corporate equity target and seen greater income parity long ago.

The only thing that I agree with the orthodox school is that you need growth to redistribute wealth and opportunities. Otherwise you would be robbing Ah Chong to pay Ali, which is clearly not what anyone wants. But how do you possibly get an economy to grow when you have already pre-determined a distributive outcome the way Ibrahim’s resolutions do? How can we promote economic growth and attract investments when a stated aim of the orthodox school’s resolutions is to divide the country’s wealth into two – 67% for the bumiputera community and 33% for the non-bumiputeras. The last economic system that tried to determine distributive outcome in such a manner ended with the demolition of the Berlin Wall, notwithstanding a couple of holdouts, that surely we don’t want to model ourselves after.

I fail to see how an economy with a fixed distributive outcome based on ethnicity can be competitive and drive growth, something which everyone has agreed is needed for redistribution. So the orthodox school immediately gets itself caught in an economic paradox with no chicken let alone an egg. If they have accepted that there must be growth before we can improve income inequality between ethnic groups, they must also accept that any suggestion that will prevent such growth from taking place is a non-starter.

Moving on from this brief critique of the orthodox position, it is important for the reformist approach to explain what changes in policy instruments are needed to achieve both aims of growth and redistributive justice. Let’s take the most obvious failure – corporate equity ownership. Under the original affirmative action programme, corporate equity was seen as an important measure of economic advancement. It roughly translated into a desire to see the BCIC own a sizable portion of the private sector, which would then translate itself to greater income and job creation for other bumiputeras. It also presented itself as a chance for ordinary bumiputera individuals with low incomes to own part of the nation’s private sector through trust funds like the various Amanah Saham schemes. The trust fund managers would pool money and use it to buy controlling stakes in big companies and in turn nurture bumiputera management to run these corporations.

To be sure, not all of this has been a failure. In fact, the emergence of many qualified and highly competitive bumiputera professionals is the direct result of this approach. Also many ordinary bumiputera (and later non-bumiputera) investors have received steady returns from their various Amanah Saham investment schemes.

However, the big issue here is whether or not a genuine BCIC has been created through the transfer of equity ownership. It is well known that the policy instrument of choice for this were special bumiputera share allocation schemes popularly referred to as pink forms. And it is equally well known that many recipients of the discounted shares had no intention of hanging onto their corporate ownership and expanding their investment organically. Rather, they flipped their stocks at the first available moment – usually after having secured some back-to-back arrangement with a non-bumiputera partner.

It wasn’t clear how rampant this practice was and how large the “leakage” it caused until Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak himself stated recently that out of RM54 billion worth of shares allocated to bumiputera investors, only RM2 billion remains in their hands. That is a clear indictment that this policy instrument needs to be consigned to the policy trash can of history.

So what takes its place? What can help create a strong and competitive BCIC and yet adhere to the tenets of being market-friendly, transparent and merit-based? Well, an innovation in this regard would be something like private equity fund Ekuiti Nasional Bhd and similar investment agencies. Their brief is not to create new shares for bumiputera investors just so that there can be nominal corporate ownership but rather to invest in bumiputera companies that require capital to take their businesses to the next level. They may be looking to list or are already publicly traded, like Tanjong Offshore Bhd. In short, this policy instrument assists those who deserve help based on potential, ability and merit.

There are many other examples which I will highlight in my next column on proposed and also fresh policy instruments which can do what Ibrahim and his friends want – which is to see an economically competitive BCIC – without scaring anyone off and dragging the nation’s economy down with a pre-determined distributive outcome.

I want to end this column by recommending a book to Ibrahim. Since he is so fond of quoting from Amy Chua’s World on Fire, I suggest he expand his literary horizon ever so slightly by reading her other book, Day of Empire. In that publication, Chua charts the rise and fall of dominant powers throughout history, from imperial Rome, the Mongol and British empires to present-day America.

The common traits she identifies as key to the initial success of these powers are tolerance, inclusiveness and embracing differences of ethnic and cultural origin in these empires. While some of these differences were exploited, Chua concludes that these civilisations flourished because they were able to get the best out of all their diverse subjects in a tolerant environment. Chua goes on to say that these powers collapsed because of intolerance and an insistence on racial superiority or purity. I think even Ibrahim can draw the obvious conclusion from this.

Pergerakan Pemuda UMNO Malaysia memandang serius kenyataan Ketua Pemuda MIC, T. Mohan bahawa MIC tidak akan teragak-agak mengkaji semula kedudukannya dalam Barisan Nasional sekiranya UMNO terlibat dalam penganjuran dan pembentukan Gerakan Anti-Samy Vellu (GAS).

Selaku Ketua Pemuda UMNO dan Pengerusi Pemuda Barisan Nasional (BN), saya telah menghubungi dan bercakap dengan saudara T. Mohan bahawa MIC perlu menghentikan tuduhan-tuduhan liar kononnya UMNO menjadi dalang kepada gerakan menjatuhkan Presiden MIC.

Saya juga menegaskan kepada saudara T. Mohan bahawa kenyataannya yang berbaur ugutan untuk keluar dari BN adalah tidak wajar sama sekali, tatkala parti-parti komponen sepatutnya mengukuhkan lagi hubungan sesama sendiri menjelang Pilihanraya Umum ke-13.

Pemuda UMNO sekali lagi menyatakan bahawa UMNO tidak terbabit sama sekali dalam kemelut MIC sepertimana yang dituduh oleh beberapa pemimpin parti tersebut. Sekiranya MIC mempunyai sebarang krisis dalaman, maka ia merupakan masalah yang perlu cepat diselesaikan sendiri oleh MIC, supaya kita dapat bersama-sama mengukuhkan Barisan Nasional.

Ezam: I will hand over files linking Anwar covering up for Wolfowitz

KUALA KUBU BARU: Former PKR youth chief Ezam Mohd Noor will hand over files to Parliament, which he alleged contained proof of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's cover-up of a scandal involving former World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz.

He told reporters here that he hoped to pass the documents to Rembau MP and Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin on Thursday night during a ceramah.

He said the documents would be useful in the hearing by the Committee of Righs and Privileges over Anwar's statement linking the Government's 1Malaysia concept nto Apco Worldwide.

The documents, he said, were passed to him two days from a Malaysian working in the World Bank.

Ezam claimed that the officer had handed him the documents as he could no longer stomach Anwar's accusation against the Government regarding Apco.

The scandal came, which broke in 2007, came after Wolfowitz's girlfriend Shaha Riza was promoted in the bank.

Wolfowitz subsequently resigned as president.

Allegations About Israeli Infiltration---A Thorough Probe

The International Movement for a Just World (JUST) welcomes the probe by four bodies into the allegations made by Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, about Israeli agents infiltrating Bukit Aman.

Infiltration by any foreign agent or element into the sanctum sanctorum of a nation’s internal security system --- the nation’s police force--- is a grave violation of its national sovereignty and integrity. When that infiltration has been allegedly carried out by agents of a state with whom Malaysia has no diplomatic relations, the matter assumes even greater seriousness.

This is why one hopes that the probe being conducted by the police, the Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission (MACC), the National Security Council and a parliamentary select committee, will be thorough and detailed. The whole truth should be made known to the public. Once the probe is completed, the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, should make a comprehensive Ministerial Statement in parliament.

Total transparency and accountability is particularly critical in this instance because the allegations have come from an individual who has close and extensive ties with leading champions of Israeli and Zionist interests in politics, in finance, in the media, and in tertiary education. No other Malaysian politician has forged such a relationship with individuals of the likes of Paul Wolfowitz, the former US Secretary of Defence and ex- President of the World Bank, who fervently believes that Israeli military dominance and power in the Middle East serves US interests. One of the principal advocates of the invasion and occupation of Iraq in furtherance of Israeli goals in the region, Wolfowitz was described by Anwar as his “great friend,” a person in whom he has “faith,” in a speech in the US on 19 June 2006.

Why should a man with such links want to expose so-called Israeli infiltration into our police force?

Is it because he is trying to regain support from his Malay-Muslim constituency--- a constituency that has become increasingly disillusioned with his politics?

Is it an attempt to divert attention from his sodomy trial which may raise questions about his moral conduct?

Or, is it because Anwar is incensed that a Washington lobbyist and public relations corporation by the name of Apco--- with quite a few former Israeli diplomats and retired military chieftains on its advisory panel--- has managed to turn the tables on him, and has succeeded in projecting a positive image of Prime Minister Mohd Najib and the Malaysian government in the US and elsewhere?

Whatever the motive, the four party probe should be able to provide us with some answers.

National Endowment for Democracy (NED) adalah sebuah agensi separuh kerajaan yang didanai oleh Kongres AS dan beberapa individu yang tujuannya adalah untuk menyokong dan mendokong organisasi di luar AS. Hal ini disebut secara terang dalam laman rasmi NED bahawa penubuhannya sejak 1980 adalah untuk “membantu usaha demokrasi di negara yang dipercayai dapat memberi manfaat kepada Amerika Syarikat, dan kepada pihak yang berhempas pulas memulihkan kebebasan dan hak asasi” (lihat David Lowe, Idea To Reality: A Brief History of the National Endowment for Democracy, http://www.ned.org/about/nedhistory.html).
Idea di belakang NED ialah untuk menjadi organisasi muka hadapan CIA dalam mencampuri urusan negara lain. Apakah cara kerja NED? Barangkali elok kita tinjau modus operandi NED di negara-negara yang pernah mereka dalangi. Kaedah pertama, di Nicaragua dalam tahun-tahun 1980-an, NED melakukan kerja batu api dengan memprovokasi aktiviti kepembangkangan. Apabila pembangkang menjadi kuat dan provokatif, pihak kerajaan akan mengambil tindakan keras terhadap pembangkang dan ini akan membolehkan kepercayaan sebahagian besar rakyat terhadap kerajaan yang telah dipilih menerusi cara demokrasi tergugat (lihat Susan F Rasky, CIA Tied to Nicaragua Provocations, dalam akhbar New York Times, 21 September 1988.)
Kaedah kedua, dalam pilihan raya di Bulgaria pada tahun 1990, NED menabur wang sebanyak AS$1.5 juta kepada parti pembangkang untuk menjatuhkan Parti Sosialis Bulgaria yang memerintah. Media Barat akan membantu usaha ini dengan meuar-uarkan analisis, pungutan suara rawak, dan pelbagai berita bahawa parti-parti pembangkang akan menumpaskan parti kerajaan dan apabila pembangkang gagal dalam pilihan raya tersebut, parti-parti yang didanai NED telah turun ke jalan raya untuk melakukan protes.
Kekacauan berlaku selama berbulan-bulan sehingga perdana menteri dan presiden Bulgaria akhirnya akur lalu meletakkan jawatan (lihat William Blum, halaman 157.) Corak kerja yang sama dilakukan di Albania pada tahun 1991, apabila NED membantu kerajaan komunis dan menaikkan Parti Demokratik yang didanai NED. Dalam tahun 1990 dan 1992, NED turut menjadi sumber kewangan kepada Cuban-American National Foundation, sebuah grup anti Fidel Castro yang berpangkalan di Miami. Cuban-American National Foundation ini pula bertanggungjawab mendanai Luis Posada Carriles, seorang teroris yang pernah melakukan pengeboman terhadap pesawat Cuba dalam tahun 1976 sehingga menyebabkan 73 orang penumpang terbunuh.
Kaedah ketiga, ialah dengan menyatukan beberapa parti pembangkang berlainan ideologi di bawah satu payung. Gabungan pembangkang ini akan didanai menerusi seorang tokoh yang dikenal pasti dengan harapan dapat menjatuhkan kerajaan yang sedia ada. Kaedah ini dilakukan dengan berkesan sekali di Mongolia dalam tahun 1996. NED telah menyatukan beberapa parti pembangkang di bawah nama Pakatan Demokratik Nasional untuk menewaskan parti kerajaan yang berkuasa sejak 1992. Harus diingatkan gabungan pembangkang itu bukanlah parti anti-Barat atau Rumah Putih. Cuma parti tersebut enggan tunduk kepada beberapa polisi ekonomi serantau yang diatur AS.
Sebelum tahun 1996, media sekali lagi berperanan mempromosikan “terapi ekonomi” buat kerajaan Mongolia yang kononnya untuk menyaingi kuasa besar China dari segi perdagangan. Sebenarnya polisi ekonomi yang dimaksudkan adalah untuk membolehkan Mongolia membuka rangkaian bisnes anti-China, dan dalam masa yang sama syarikat-syarikat swasta Barat ini dapat menjadi menjadi perisik dan telinga untuk CIA.
Hal ini didedahkan oleh pengkaji yang sama iaitu William Blum menerusi bukunya, Rogue State: A Guide to the World’s Only Superpower. Bentuk yang serupa dilakukan NED di Haiti untuk menggulingkan Presiden Jean-Bertrand Aristide. Dan contoh klasik ialah usaha NED di Venezuela dalam tahun 2002 untuk menggulingkan Presiden Hugo Chavez. Usaha tersebut gagal, malah salah seorang koresponden CNN mengakui ikut menjadi konspirator dalam rampasan kuasa 48 jam tersebut.
Di Republik Islam Iran, antara tahun 2005 ke 2007, NED misalnya telah memberi AS$345,000 kepada Yayasan Abdorrahman Boroumand, ABF, (perincian dana NED boleh dilihat di laman National Endowment for Democracy http://www.ned.org.) ABF ini pula adalah pengasas kepada gerakan penentangan nasional Iran, sebuah grup yang ditubuhkan untuk menjatuhkan “kerajaan mullah” di Iran. Menurut laman rasmi ABF, pengasas mereka Abdorrahman telah dibunuh secara rahsia oleh ejen kerajaan Iran di Paris dalam tahun 1991 (lihat laman Yayasan Abdorrahman Boroumand melalui http://www.iranrights.org/).
Penerima dana NED yang lain ialah Majlis Iran Amerika Nasional (NIAC), menerima AS$25,000 dalam tahun 2002, AS$64,000 dalam tahun 2005, dan AS$107,000 dalam tahun 2006. Di sinilah datangnya kaedah keempat NED iaitu “media training workshop” kononnya untuk melatih peserta mewakili masyarakat dalam bidang komunikasi awam. NIAC aktif menganjurkan bengkel dan seminar untuk tujuan “mengukuhkan kapasiti pertubuhan sivil di Iran.” Antara slogan bengkel anjuran NIAC adalah seperti merangsang pertumbuhan masyarakat madani, atau ke arah hak asasi dan lain-lain lagi (lihat http://www.ned.org/grants/06programs/grants-mena06.html#iran.)
Gerakan ini tentu sahaja telah dikesani oleh Iran. November 2008, lama sebelum pilihan raya presiden Iran berlangsung, duta Iran ke Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu, Mohammad-Javad Zarif menuduh AS sedang merancang revolusi warna di Iran. Menurut beliau, kaedah yang diatur NED ialah dengan cara mengundang sarjana dari universiti-universiti di Iran untuk menghadiri konferens akademik di Barat, akan tetapi apabila mereka menyertai sesi undangan itu, sarjana ini akan menyedari mereka sedang berhimpun untuk membincangkan mekanisme menjatuhkan kerajaan Iran (lihat US Plotting Velvet Revolution in Iran?, Press TV, 18 November 2008 menerusi laman http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=75784...ionid=351020101)
Hal ini tidaklah mengejutkan kerana dalam bulan Februari 2006, Setiausaha Negara AS Condoleezza Rice telah memohon dana mengejut dari Kongres sebanyak AS$75 juta dengan AS$10 juta akan diperuntukkan untuk “merangsang kempen propaganda menentang Tehran.” Wang sebesar itu akan disalurkan untuk “siaran radio dan televisyen bahasa Parsi dari AS, memberi biasiswa kepada pelajar yang ingin menuntut di AS dan untuk mendanai gerakan prodemokrasi di Iran. Menurut Rice, “dana itu penting untuk menunjukkan AS menyokong aspirasi kebebasan dan demokrasi yang menjadi hak rakyat Iran” (lihat Ewen MacAskill dan Julian Borger, Bush Plans Huge Propaganda Campaign in Iran,Guardian, 16 Februari 2006http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2006/feb/16/usnews.iran)

Kaedah kelima NED, ialah dengan menjejaskan ekonomi sesebuah negara yang disasarkan seraya melakukan penyebaran propaganda menerusi semua media (untuk menyelewengkan maklumat dan berita) bahawa negara tersebut sedang disalah urus. Buktinya, laporan ABC News dan Telegraph yang menyebutkan Presiden George Bush telah memberi izin kepada CIA untuk melancarkan operasi hitam untuk menjatuhkan kerajaan Iran yang ada sekarang. Caranya dengan “menjalankan kempen maklumat salah bertujuan menjejaskan kestabilan dan akhirnya, pemerintahan teokratik para mullah.”

Kaedah keenam, NED cekap menggunakan media baharu (termasuk blog, Facebook, Friendster, Youtube, dan Twitter) untuk mencetuskan keadaan huru-hara di sesebuah negara. Dua bulan sebelum pilihan raya presiden Iran berlangsung, Iran menerusi apa yang dikenali di Barat sebagai Kor Pengawal Revolusi Iran (IRGC) telah mendedahkan upaya dari luar untuk menjatuhkan kerajaan. Badan tersebut menyebut Belanda, AS dan Inggeris sedang mendanai gerakan anti kerajaan untuk mendorong revolusi kecil (lihat Iran uncovers cyber plot to topple government, Press TV, 11 April 2009http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=91129...ionid=351020101).

Seperti yang telah dimaklumi perarakan dan bantahan dari kumpulan pembangkang menyusul sebaik sahaja kemenangan besar Presiden Mahmoud Ahmadinejad diumumkan. Rusuhan dan protes malah menjadi buruk dengan kemudahan awam seperti bas dan telefon publik dimusnahkan oleh penyokong Mir Houssein Mousavi. Pihak berkuasa terpaksa bertindak. Para militari Basij yang setia kepada Imam Ali Khamenei dituduh menyerbu Universiti Tehran dan membunuh perusuh yang membantah keputusan pilihan raya tersebut. Antara demonstran yang terbunuh ialah Neda Agha Soltan. Di tengah-tengah huru-hara ini, kerajaan Iran yang menyedari peranan internet dalam merosakkan keamanan telah menutup sistem internet dan melarang jurnalis asing dari membuat apa-apa laporan. Twitter muncul sebagai medium komunikasi parti pembangkang dan agensi berita asing. Apakah itu twitter? Twitter adalah satu bentuk maklumat ringkas yang dapat dicapai menerusi web browser atau sistem pesanan ringkas di telefon bimbit. Pengguna boleh mendaftar untuk mendapatkan maklumat terkini tentang sesuatu kejadian. Meskipun menutup semua sistem sms, Twitter bagaimanapun tidak dapat ditutup oleh kerajaan Iran. Di sinilah timbul tanda tanya kerana Washington Post sendiri mengesahkan bahawa kebanyakan maklumat dari Twitter ini bukannya datang dari Iran sendiri, “It is hard to say how much twittering is actually going on inside Iran” (lihat Mike Musgrove, Twitter Is a Player In Iran’s Drama, Washington Post, 17 Jun 2009 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...9061603391.html).

Perkara ini disahkan oleh laporan New York Times yang mengatakan maklumat menerusi Twitter kebanyakannya tidak boleh dipercayai, “Just as Twitter has helped get out first-hand reports from Tehran, it has also spread inaccurate information, perhaps even disinformation.” Akhbar itu menyebutkan antara berita terkini yang tidak benar ialah 3 juta penyokong Mir Hussein keluar membantah, dan beliau ditahan dalam rumah, “that three millon protested in Tehran last weekend (more like a few hundred thousand); that the opposition candidate Mir Hussein Moussavi was under house arrest he was being watched” (lihat Noam Cohen, Twitter on the Barricades: Six Lessons Learned, New York Times, 20 Jun 2009 http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/21/weekinre...21cohenweb.html)

Maklumat tidak benar (perarakan tiga ribu menjadi 3 juta) menerusi Twitter itu kemudiannya dilaporkan oleh penulis blog terkenal Andrew Sullivan menerusi blognya The Daily Dish(lihat Andrew Sullivan, Follow-Up On Earlier Posts, The Atlantic, The Daily Dish, 13 Jun 2009 http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_...lier-posts.html) Laporan penuh penyelewengan tersebut kemudiannya dipetik pula kebanyakan agensi berita seperti CNN dan AP. Peranan CIA dan NED dalam Twitter wajar diragui kerana apabila firma yang menguruskan Twitter iaitu Twitter Inc perlu melakukan kemaskini berjadualnya seperti biasa, telah meminta supaya Twitter Inc menangguhkan “scheduled maintenance” tersebut.

Semua kaedah NED di atas telah pun diamalkan dan dikemukakan di Malaysia. Kita sudah menyaksikan gerakan massa berasaskan warna, Bersih yang dikenali dengan warna kuning. PKR dan DAP menjadi penganjur utama program manakala PAS juga menyertainya!?Malah hampir kesemua lawatan Anwar ke USA akan ditaja atau setidak-tidaknya disertai oleh NED.

Apakah kesemua kisah bersama data dan fakta diatas tidak cukup untuk menjadi bukti bagaimana pemimpin politik pembangkang khususnya Anwar Ibrahim sanggup menjadi alat dan perkakas kepada agen asing khususnya zionis yahudi?!

Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) - the current Barisan Nasional and UMNO Youth Chief in his first year as the leader of the wing. The most competitive seat that he won. Tall, handsome and expressionless, he looks exactly like a man whom I thought could lead the youth of the nation; of nearly infinite variation should. He was once before getting methodically and mercilessly crushed by his once opponents.

Genius can appear anywhere, but the origins of KJ’s talent are particularly mysterious.

When I first met him, I remember him petting my shoulder and for some reason which I still can’t get, I knew that KJ is going to bring some change to the youth in Malaysia.

Even pro-politicians, lecturers, professors etc. (I read once in an article published by an international university) a population inured to demonstrations of extraordinary intellect have been electrified by KJ’s rise. KJ is a leader at the early age of his 30’s and a man who would bring change to the youth of Malaysia.

In conversation, KJ offers subtle clues to his intelligence. His speech is technical fact to fact, grammatically flawless and logically irresistible. He dresses neatly and at the same time shows absolute comfort with formality. He would at times seem older than his age but for his habit of intermingle and his warmth, he will make his guests feel like they’ve known each other for ages.

KJ is rooted in a deep intuitive sense no computer can teach and that his supporters have a natural feel for where to ‘place the pieces’.

According to KJ in his recent interview with The Nut Graph, KJ quoted as saying “I prefer Pemuda to become a solution provider, sometimes merely pressuring the government to do this or not do that can make you popular in short term, but sooner or later people will ask “What’s your alternative?”” which is also KJ’s vision for Pemuda Barisan Nasional and Pemuda UMNO.

Let me say this to the oppressors; “the fear surrounding any such beautiful mind is that a life spent probing the edges of the never ending unintelligent conclusions, the possible variations of leading a few - the ‘estimated number of atoms in the universe’ will eventually lead to madness”.

Whatever whoever says, me-myself and those uncountable supporters of KJ will always be there by KJ’s side we will let KJ lead.

At the same time, it’s difficult to predict what will happen.

So far, at least, KJ has been making all the right moves.

Barisan Youth chiefs hail quick action to curb ‘problem’.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Barisan Nasional Youth chiefs yesterday commended the authorities for their swift action leading to the prosecution of a 25-year-old student who used threatening words on his Facebook account on the controversy over the use of the word “Allah” on Thursday.

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said he hoped the authorities will continue taking such measures until the real culprits behind the arson attacks are caught.

“The student may say it is a joke but things like this should never be a laughing matter.

“His actions were irresponsible and insensitive, not only to Christians but also to Muslims,” he said to reporters after attending a Ponggal celebration festival held by the MIC Youth here yesterday.

MIC Youth chief T. Mohan said the Internal Security Act should be used to detain those with intention to cause racial and religious tension.

“It is vital that the authorities use the law to protect the country from people who want to disrupt our unity,” he said.

MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the prosecution of the student showed the commitment of the authorities in maintaining the peace in the country.

“We respect freedom of speech but we do not condone those who spread malice and lies,” he said.

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has directed youth wings of the component parties in east Malaysia to go down to the ground to explain the “Allah” controversy.

“We do not want any parties to exploit the issue in east Malaysia.

“We are glad to receive feedback that folk in Sabah are staying cool over the issue although the situation in peninsula is hot,” he said after Liberal Democratic Party youth secretary Dexter Lim led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on him at the Umno headquarters here yesterday.

Lim said the meeting was aimed at strengthening collaboration in preparation for the next general election.

Khairy also said the younger generation was fed up with non-stop politicking in Barisan component parties.

Isu Kalimah 'Allah': Kenyataan Ketua Pergerakan Pemuda UMNO Malaysia.

Pergerakan Pemuda UMNO Malaysia memandang serius perdebatan kalimah Allah yang menjurus dari keputusan Mahkamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur membenarkan majalah The Herald menggunakan 'Allah' sebagai rujukan kepada Tuhan sembahan mereka. Kalimah 'Allah' sepertimana yang difahami oleh orang Islam adalah satu kalimah suci yang membawa erti Tuhan yang Maha Esa.

Pemuda UMNO juga mengambil maklum sentimen di kalangan akar umbi Melayu dan Islam yang begitu risau dengan perkembangan ini, disamping tidak menolak sensitiviti penganut agama Katolik.

Oleh itu, Pemuda UMNO menyarankan agar satu pertemuan diadakan antara wakil Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan dan pihak Gereja Katolik yang menerbitkan majalah The Herald. Dialog hasil perjumpaan ini bakal menjadi titik pertemuan bagi kedua-dua pihak disamping menjadi medium menyampaikan kekhuatiran umat Islam di Malaysia kepada pihak penerbit, lantas mencari jalan penyelesaian kepada kemelut ini.

Disamping Pemuda UMNO menghormati proses undang-undang yang sedang berjalan, Pemuda UMNO juga percaya bahawa isu sensitif ini perlu kepada satu penyelesaian yang lebih menyeluruh supaya prinsip saling menghormati dapat dipelihara berdasarkan dialog antara pihak yang terlibat. Finally I found some time to stare at the monitor.

When I was in college, I had this click of friends where we used to hang out at the bus stop right in front of the college. I never used to be serious in anything except for studies. I even remember crashing weddings for the food like the saying of starving student and getting pass through clubs without paying the cover charge.

I have no idea where are those buddies of mine, I remember their houses. But when I went looking for them the other day in KL they have moved elsewhere as mentioned by the new owner who has also lost their contacts.

I have always wished I’ll be able to locate them in this lifetime.

So it was Farah and here goes nothing. This was a well kept self secret till now as my friends wanted to know what happened between us since the good old days. I’ll give out bits of it.

My recent trip to Penang was to attend a friends wedding. And intentionally by my friends, we were placed side by side on the same table. My heart was kitten pounding.

How it all started was on one fateful day in Penang, it was about 8am at the Komtar bus station. I was there changing bus towards my college and there stood the perfection-when-seen-through-my-eyes going through her purse for the exact coin change for the ride. She some how or another realized that someone was looking at her (me) and she looked up. My jaws were to my foot. The monkey staring attention that I had was written all over my forehead.

Farah had a navy blue Levi’s jeans on with a double pocket body hugging white shirt tucked out. Her hair was tied back into a bun with a black stick right through it. The dark brown Liz Claiborne hand bag on her right arm, her left arm had holding her books. She had this curled eye lashes even though no mascara was applied with a reading glasses on. Her rosy cheeks were as smooth as milk (not even as silk) and her lips had on a light shade of pink lipstick. She’s my version of Snow White.

I went dumb for that few seconds, then I could finally hear her asking me whether I can change her one ringgit coin for her.

From that day onwards I used to take bus no. 325 or 18 by Transit Link on purpose so that I’ll make it to Komtar to the platform where she’ll be standing at the particular time even on days when I didn’t have classes on.

After more than a week I finally got her number like this, “Farah, I lost my number what’s yours?”, she laughed and said 'old line' but still gave me her number.

The very next day I called her up and made an early breakfast appointment, we had one of the most delicious roti canai and teh tarik in Penang. For me, it was extra delicious that day.

To cut this short…………

I never took the friendship as serious as how Farah wanted it to be, I should have known or realized or – I just don’t know. The last week of college, she called me up and said that she wanted to meet me. We met up for a movie; I took her for Star Wars Episode 1 not realizing that she was a bit quiet on that day. In the elevator on the way down she whispered to me that she needs to talk to me about something important and I told her that to make it for the next day. What an innocent jerk I was.

I only met her on the next afternoon and Farah’s teary eyes made the chemical change in my brain all neutral to pay attention on the situation. She decided to talk to me about the ‘us’ topic.

At that time life was all ahead of me, and a relationship was the last thing on my mind. I still have no idea why didn’t I react out positively towards her side when I should have.

Should I have held her hand when the tears were rolling down? Or should I have said out words of comfort ness? Or should I have told her that we could have worked something out? Should I have said that I’ll always be there for her? Or should I have said that the feeling that I had for her could have been love? I didn’t know how to react at that time.

I just sat silent and we were set apart when I told her that I felt that she was a bit emotional on that day.

Farah still looks as alluring and more matured. After the wedding at Vistana Penang, we went over to Secret Recipe outlet beside Sunshine Square to catch up on the paused friendship and I apologized to her ever so profound dearly.

Not out of desperation, I told her to give me a second chance and it was then when she told me that she’s seeing someone. Then I knew it was a heart-broken rejection. I know how it feels to be shattered, but that’s the price I will have to pay for being a child when I was already a young man.

Was Farah Miss Right at the wrong time? But now I feel that I should not make another mistake by settling for second best merely for the sake of getting hitched - only to regret it soon after, as the Miss Right who confided in me did. Hopefully, the best is not over but yet to be for what a zero-hope is all about in this passed-on episode.

Let me say, IT HAS BEEN A WHILE.

Might be rusty, but then let’s see how this piece goes.

The previous I wrote was entitled, Khairy Jamaluddin – My Idol. And guess what, it’s true. Every word of it. Absolutely true.

For me, there are two types of bloggers in Malaysia. The first would be the ones who support a particular subject and the second; a ‘special group’ who only try their best to outshine figures and talk as if they know all the answers. Guess what you bloodsucking vampires – you people are laughing stocks! Or more to that, I’ll put it this way; like a lentil dish served with curry. The lentils dish will always be the unique one, it has to be served by itself.

I support Khairy Jamaluddin with all my heart. Just try to digest that fact.

I come from an island where the up is down and the down is up. It’s a place where dreams come true. I never, in a thousand years, thought I would be able to sit next to a person like Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ). But it happened, I actually wished for it. It came true.

So my fellow readers let me bore you with some truths.

Like I have been making my points known to some ‘brick walls’, when KJ was battling the no.1 youth post in the country everyone thought that it was a dead-end. Everybody was wrong.

And for most of that time, he went forward against great odds, the voice of progressivism in an avant-garde age. When people were getting tired of hearing about changes within, he kept on talking even though the tempo towards unpopularity was increasing.

So does it matter that KJ never made it to the cabinet at the most tempting moment? A good number of the similar post got ‘there’ but KJ didn’t. KJ and supporters like me remained hush hush and till now it’s still the same. Why? WE HAVE A GOOD LEADER! KJ is a good leader.

This is the atmosphere that all Malaysians should be born into. Respect. Or perhaps just try to have the Rukun Negara within all of us.

Being a gentlemen as what KJ is being and has always been for that manner, a lot of good votes are coming in. Votes that once left the country and the current ruling party is making Malaysia a change place and a better one where the votes from the youths are concerned.

More than his post, KJ shaped it into something real and enduring. A hard headed person like me who once yelled at a lecturer during college days, can sit down and listen to a whole lengthy speech and ponder upon it.

Hardly anybody talks about negative made-up issues about KJ like they used to except for the second group as I mentioned up above. And on other issues there could be no common ground.

Not anyone of us knows what ways a prophecy would turn out into. Yet KJ would create a plane from a folded piece of paper, designed to fly up north and tell the world that nothing is impossible if you have the right mind set for something.

It is true that KJ doesn’t have a record of businesses he has built, run, connected etc. or even a government he has run. For one thing he has been moving around a lot. Looking at the world from a different perspective, thank God for not setting those ‘gaudy’ sets where he visits. A person with a 1^st class mind I’ve been looking for is right where we need him. The restlessness of his résumé is striking. Go check it out for yourself.

Yet after mentioning to this group of people what I think of KJ, they still ask me why do I support KJ. Annoyance at its best.

I wanted to write more, but then I would rather pause here and see what’s next in the world of blogosphere. Will the first group be known or the second group be evermore unique like a dish of lentils?

Khairy to Azmin: "Explain yourself"

SEREMBAN: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has called on Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Azmin Ali to explain an allegation over the purchase of RM8mil worth of shares by Malaysian Indian Youth Development Foundation chairman S.A. Vigneswaran.

"It is not wrong to buy shares, but an explanation is necessary as to how the purchase was financed. He must have an answer and an explanation, and we are waiting for the explanation," he told reporters after launching a consumer campaign to cultivate vegetable plots organised by Fomca at the Taman Tuanku Ja'afar community hall in Sungai Gadut near here on Saturday.

He was asked to comment on the allegation by Vigneswaran on the purchase of shares worth RM8 mil involving three individuals, including Azmin, in the early 1990s as reported in several newspapers.

Khairy, who is the Rembau MP, said he hoped that Azmin would not remain silent as the matter was linked to his credibility.

"The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has been accused of many things. As such, it is not wrong if we ask for the same form of accountability to be applied by the Opposition leaders," he said.

On Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim appointing PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the economic advisor to the state, Khairy said this showed the inability of the Selangor government to manage its own economy and being forced to appoint someone from outside. - BERNAMA

10 Nov – Kg Gadung Rembau, Majlis doa selamat dan bacaan Yasin berlangsung dalam suasana sederhana dan meriah di rumah Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia bagi mendoakan agar perjalanan Sdr Khairy Jamaluddin ke tanah suci selamat dan semoga beliau dapat mengerjakan Haji Mabrur. Khairy akan berangkat ke Mekah bersama keluarga pada 17 hb Nov 2009. Majlis yang bermula pada jam 7 malam di mulakan dengan sembahyang maghrib.

Ramai ketua ketua Pemuda negeri, rakan-rakan Facebook terutamanya dr KJFC (Khairy Jamaluddin Fan Club) dan juga Pemuda UMNO yang turut hadir dalam majlis tersebut , Majlis berakhir pada jam 10 malam.KPMU mengucapkan Selamat jalan dan selamat mengerjakan ibadah Haji kepada Ketua Pemuda UMNO Malaysia bersama keluarga , semoga selamat berangkat dan selamat kembali.

KUALA LUMPUR 14 Okt. - Pergerakan Pemuda UMNO meminta kerajaan menyediakan beberapa inisiatif khas untuk golongan muda menjelang pembentangan Bajet 2010 antaranya mewujudkan Bank Belia atau Bank Pemuda bagi menggalakkan golongan itu terlibat dalam bidang keusahawanan.

Ketuanya, Khairy Jamaluddin berkata, langkah itu perlu kerana kumpulan terbabit kini berhadapan dengan masalah kekurangan pekerjaan yang menuntut pihak pemerintah menyegerakan usaha menyelesaikan masalah mereka.

Melalui bank berkenaan katanya, pihak kerajaan boleh menyalurkan pinjaman khas kepada mereka terutama bagi mengatasi masalah modal perniagaan di peringkat permulaan.

''Selain itu ia turut menggalakkan penyertaan mereka di sektor-sektor baru yang berteknologi tinggi dan mempunyai nilai tambah kepada ekonomi.

''Selain itu cadangan inisiatif khas itu juga melibatkan usaha menawarkan peluang-peluang pekerjaan yang lebih luas serta berkualiti tinggi terutama di sektor-sektor strategik seperti perkhidmatan, teknologi maklumat dan bioteknologi,'' katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian dalam ucapan dasarnya pada Persidangan Perwakilan Pergerakan Pemuda UMNO di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC) di sini hari ini.

Ucapan yang bertajuk Di Persimpangan Jalan Perjuangan itu disampaikan di hadapan 795 perwakilan dari seluruh negara.

Turut hadir Naib Ketua Pemuda, Datuk Razali Ibrahim dan barisan Exco pergerakan itu.
Khairy berkata, melalui inisiatif khas berkenaan kerajaan harus menambahkan peluang pekerjaan untuk pelajar lepasan aliran teknikal dan vokasional.

Dalam ucapan dasarnya itu, beliau turut menarik perhatian perwakilan mengenai nasib golongan muda yang baru memulakan hidup berkeluarga.

''Pemuda juga prihatin dengan nasib golongan muda yang baru sahaja memulakan hidup berkeluarga.

''Sudah tentu mereka ini baru bekerja dan dalam masa sama mempunyai pelbagai tanggungan termasuklah membantu ibu bapa dan membayar pinjaman pendidikan,'' katanya.

Justeru beliau berkata, pihak Pemuda mencadangkan beberapa langkah yang wajar diberikan perhatian oleh kerajaan antaranya menubuhkan tabung untuk pinjaman perumahan dengan kadar faedah terendah.

Melalui langkah itu kata beliau, ia akan membolehkan golongan muda yang baru berkahwin mampu memiliki rumah sendiri.

''Antara langkah lain ialah memberi diskaun istimewa untuk kereta nasional kepada mereka yang mempunyai anak pertama dan baru memiliki kereta.

''Pemuda juga ingin mencadangkan supaya kerajaan memperuntukkan RM200 bagi anak pertama setiap keluarga sebagai simpanan permulaan Tabung Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional,'' katanya.

Selain itu kata Khairy, langkah tersebut turut meliputi tawaran baucer membeli barangan keperluan asas bayi seperti susu dan lampin.

''Pemuda berharap kerajaan dapat menimbang dan memberi perhatian kepada langkah-langkah yang dicadangkan itu.

''Pemuda percaya dengan gerak kerja dan khidmat berterusan insya-Allah BN akan dapat memenangi hati dan sokongan generasi muda yang merupakan aset penting kepada negara,'' katanya.

Praise be to almighty Allah, for it is through His Grace and Will that Umno Youth is gathered here on this blessed morning to meet our obligations as stipulated in the party constitution.

In keeping with the spirit of Syawal, Umno Youth at both national and state levels wish Selamat Hari Raya and Maaf Zahir Batin to all, should anything have been said or done that caused hurt. Personally, too, I would like to seek forgiveness for whatever wrongdoings committed in the past. This moment here, represents the best opportunity for us to put all that unites us, above all that divides us, to begin anew and move forward in service of our nation and people.

At this auspicious occasion too, I have the great privilege of representing the entire Umno Youth movement in recording our utmost appreciation to our former party President, YAB Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and our movement’s former leader, YB Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, for all their contributions – not merely as leaders but as great-hearted individuals who passed on the torch to the new generation.

Delegates, You have assuredly come today, with great commitment towards our party’s cause. It is only right that we, as mere mortals, reflect on the great responsibilities bestowed upon us as leaders and representatives in this hall. The reason for our presence, in body and spirit, is not to further individual interests. Rather we are here, grounded in our faith in Allah SWT, and the belief in the institutions of Umno and Umno Youth, that have borne the struggles for the advancement of our nation and people – overcoming countless challenges in steering through history.

Our commitment and steadfastness towards our cause is firmly entrenched in the fundamentals of our religion. Allah SWT reminds us about the value of steadfastness as well as the importance of holding on to unity and the teachings of our religion.

Allah SWT commands in Surah Al Maidah, verse 2: “…help you one another in AlBirr and AtTaqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah. Verily, for Allah is severe in punishment.”

It is with this consciousness that Umno Youth has congregated now for sixty years. Allah SWT did not unite us to do wrong, or to cause destruction to mankind. Instead, we are brought together through politics to serve Allah and do right by our Ummah and nation – performing a duty as commanded by Allah SWT in Surah Az Zariyat, ayat 56:

“And I created the jinns and men, only for them to worship Me”

The aim of our politics must be grounded on this divine consciousness. This is where we plant our deeds by striving for a noble purpose, through the dimensions and processes of politics. For here lies the meaning as well as the foundation of our noble cause in advocating and advancing our religion, people and nation.

Delegates, Umno Youth is at a crossroads, a critical juncture of our cause. The choice we make will decide the party’s fate come the 13th General Elections – a battle for nothing less than the survival of Umno and the Barisan Nasional. The Opposition Alliance will attempt to deliver a deathblow to us after denying us a two-thirds majority in Parliament and emerging victorious in five states during the last General Elections. Umno and the Barisan have only three years to prove to the electorate that we remain the best option to lead and administrate the country – the best in fulfilling the aspirations of all Malaysians.

The current challenge requires wisdom for us to manage a political scene very different from what we have been accustomed to. We are faced with an electorate far more educated and exposed to the wider world. Voters now are more able to draw comparisons between Malaysia and other countries when it comes to both political culture and achievements. Many of these voters are young. This generation cannot be expected to support us based on the notion that they should be grateful to Umno and BN. Such an approach may have worked in the past, but today’s generation wants to know what Umno and BN can do, and not what it has done.

Most certainly, the political landscape has been transformed with freer information flows, either via conventional channels or new media. The country’s modernization – with sophisticated infrastructure such as broadband and mobile communication – has not only increased our country’s economic productivity but also had an effect on political maturity and consciousness.

Such is the current environment – freer, more open, young, educated and cosmopolitan. Political methods must also change to reflect this shift. The challenging climate, coupled with the limited time at hand, necessitates that we work and move relentlessly – our survival depends on the outcome of the 13th GE.

With that in mind, despite the fact that it has only been six months since Umno Youth’s leadership contests, we have already taken steps towards party rejuvenation and rehabilitation. In April, the Exco (executive council) lineup at the national level as well as state Umno Youth leadership participated in a retreat in Janda Baik in April, the result of which saw us emerge with a shared vision.

In line with the political challenges of today, Umno Youth has taken a comprehensive approach by arranging its Exco and Secretariat lineup to be more responsive to the younger generation, engaging all target segments. This approach cuts across geographical boundaries and social groupings – from young workers and professionals in urban and rural areas, to students of all ages.

These are all examples of how Umno Youth will operate to capture the hearts of young people. We cannot rely on hollow rhetoric, nor should we be akin to circus lions, roaring for no good reason. Granted, rhetoric may capture momentary media attention, but in order to win support, we must focus on issues that actually matter to the people – welfare issues such as calamities, natural disasters, poverty, public safety, health, education and housing.

The younger generation also hopes for thought leadership from Umno Youth – I am proud to say that in numerous debates, speeches, televised forums and other channels, Umno Youth has been at the frontline representing Umno and BN.

Early signs indicate that this approach is paying off, with acceptance towards Umno and BN amongst young people on the rise. Data from the results of recent by-elections show that – due much to your own efforts – in Manek Urai, support from young voters increased across all polling streams. In Bagan Pinang last week, that trend became even more pronounced when BN won the election with a larger majority than before. Who says young people are distancing themselves from our cause? This recent victory strengthens our resolve and spirits – Umno is still relevant and can remain the voice of the Malay struggle, especially for the younger generation.

That said, we cannot rest on our laurels, much less gloat. These initial achievements should act as a stimulant – with the right strategy and appropriate approach suited to the youths of today, the young voters that many say were almost impossible for BN to get on its side, can in fact be won over. Umno Youth has been tasked with this segment of the electorate, to turn their support to BN – for the younger generation, we serve as the contact point to our party.

As such, Umno Youth must perform a generational transformation in our approach. With that awareness, I introduced five pillars as a foundation to Umno Youth’s transformation. They are: Unity, Principled, Inclusive, Relevant and Proactive – underlining a new philosophy for our movement to achieve the goal of winning the support of the younger generation.

The pillar of “Unity” tells us that our strength lies in solidarity and collective efforts, grouping all members of Umno Youth under a common cause. “Principled”, on the other hand, refers to Umno Youth’s unyielding stance when dealing with the fundamental tenets of the party’s struggle: to protect the position of Islam, the Malay people, and the Malay language. “Inclusive” informs the nature of our activities, which must reach out beyond traditional party boundaries and cut across racial and religious lines.

“Relevant” denotes that our programs, mediums of outreach and communication, political language and information channels have to suit the target segments. The final pillar, “Proactive”, refers to the self-imposed standards of our work ethic, where in matters that concern the welfare of the people especially, all plans and actions must be carried out without having to wait for instructions. We must avoid chronic problems that can be exploited by the Opposition for its own political gains.

Delegates, Based on these pillars, we will answer the call of 1Malaysia that prioritises performance for the people. With this, I propose a set of performance indicators to act as guidelines to all of Umno Youth’s work. Further, these indicators will assist in evaluating the accomplishments of both Umno Youth leaders and members.

The performance indicators that we must instill into our movement are as follows: [i] Increasing the membership base of Umno, specifically increasing the number of young people joining the party.

[ii] Registering party members as voters in their respective constituencies.

[iii] Establishing relationships between Umno Youth and opinion shapers amongst the younger generation – members of the intelligentsia, young professionals, writers, religious figures and educators.

[iv] Winning the message war, especially in the cyber world which has become the platform for modern-day political communications.

[v] And the final indicator, that will best evaluate the performance of Umno Youth, is increasing votes of young people for BN, and winning the young voter polling streams in elections.

The set of performance indicators is in line with the agenda of party rejuvenation.

Delegates, Another step taken to that end is the proposed amendments to the party constitution – as mooted by our President during the last General Assembly.

Umno Youth welcomes the efforts led by YB Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein as Chairman of the Constitution Amendment Committee, which has proposed a number of changes premised on the goal of empowering more Umno members to determine party leadership at the highest level. The amendments will simplify the process of joining the party and also minimise barriers for members to contest for party positions, at once making Umno more inclusive.

Umno Youth gives its full support to the proposed amendments which will be tabled tomorrow, at our Extraordinary General Assembly, in the hopes that they will be passed, especially because they would implicitly give recognition to young people in the party. I never fail to remind myself of the fact that it is in the party branches nationwide that the seeds of Umno’s struggle are sown in the hearts of young Malays. I am thus happy to report of an important proposal – that we must unanimously support – which recognises Leaders of Umno Youth at the branch level as automatic delegates to the divisional annual general meetings. Giving voice to Umno Youth grassroots will only serve to empower the movement nationally.

The constitutional amendments, if passed, would further bring changes to the party at large whereby elections for the highest posts in the party shall be carried out at divisional level. Hence, the power and privilege to elect leaders will no longer remain solely in the hands of 2,600 delegates to the General Assembly, but be extended to over 140,000 members nationwide.

These measures are timely and much welcomed by Umno Youth and we hope that they will act as a precursor to more substantial changes in the future, to better reflect Umno’s profile as a grassroots party that is truly open and democratic. It is our hope this new system will run smoothly so that one day, the right of suffrage will be in the hands of all members. One Member, One Vote. This is the true value of membership – the ability to elect party leaders should be seen as fundamental in party politics.

Another issue that will affect Umno Youth is in the matter of party membership. We have received numerous complaints about how painstakingly difficult and troublesome it is for young people to simply become a member of the party. With the passing of the constitutional amendments tomorrow, applications to join Umno can not only be received and signed off by Branch Heads, but also by Umno Youth Branch Leaders. We must not squander the privilege extended to us all. Let us double our efforts towards winning the hearts of young people. I reiterate the need for us to lend our full support to the proposed amendments that will be tabled tomorrow.

Delegates, Whilst changes to the party constitution involve matters relating to young people who are members of Umno, as an inclusive party we must also strive to be the voice of the younger generation within and outside the party. This is what ”people-friendly” should mean in Umno Youth.

Among the issues faced by young people, especially the many who migrate to urban areas, are employment opportunities, housing and lack of civic participation. We cannot deny that many in the younger generation are given ample education opportunities by the Government, leading them to obtain degrees, diplomas or at the very least, certificates. However, when they fail to gain employment, we often hear allegations that seem to blame young people themselves – for a supposed lack in intelligence, poor communication skills and low confidence. It is incumbent upon us to seek ways to solve the problems they face.

Therefore, in the lead-up to the tabling of the 2010 Budget, Umno Youth would like to put forward a list of initiatives for the government to consider, specifically geared to the needs of young people as an important feature of the Budget. They are:

[i] Increased job opportunities, especially in strategic sectors like service, information technology and bio-technology;

[ii] Life-long training opportunities to increase skills, such as mastery of international languages and the latest technologies;

[iii] Special loan facilities for young entrepreneurs, especially at the start-up level to encourage participation in new sectors, which are high-tech, and possess value-adding qualities;

[iv] Support for volunteers and community welfare advancement efforts; and

[v] Increasing opportunities to ensure that graduates from the technical and vocational streams can be given ample employment.

Simultaneously, Umno Youth is also concerned with the unique issues faced by those who have only recently begun working and started families of their own, with numerous responsibilities to bear, including paying off study loans and looking after ageing parents. Umno Youth would thus like to propose the following measures to be considered by the Government:

[i] Setting up a fund for housing loans with the lowest interest rates for the first few years upon marriage so that newlyweds can afford to purchase a home;

[ii] Granting a special discount for national cars to first-time parents who have yet to own a car;

[iii] Providing RM200 for the firstborn of all families as an initial deposit to the National Education Savings Scheme Fund.

[iv] Offering vouchers to parents with infants to purchase necessities such as milk and diapers.

Umno Youth hopes that the Government will give the necessary attention to these proposals. We believe that with consistent service to the community, God-willing BN can capture the support of the younger generation – the asset and hope of our country’s future.

Delegates, People are now faced with the choice between two political fronts: Barisan Nasional, which has developed the country to its current heights, or the opposition coalition which continues to divide the people. It is our responsibility to expose the true colours of the opposition – that they are no true coalition and are not bound by any shared principle. What exists is merely a casual relationship, void of any moral principle, genuine affinity or mutual respect. They are a coalition willing to be in cahoots merely to topple the Barisan Nasional Government, dreaming of Putrajaya.

Recent incidents since the 12th GE indicate that there is no sincerity of struggle in the opposition coalition. It would not be a stretch for me to contend that the DAP holds the reins. PAS steered away from its original core when the Islamic State ceased to be a key party agenda.

PAS no longer dares to speak up, much less criticize PKR and DAP on numerous matters. PAS is also no longer sensitive to issues that used to be central to their cause, such as the proposal of utilising zakat funds for the state administration of Selangor. This suggests that PAS is willing to sacrifice fundamental principles in its negotiations with DAP, all in the name of politics. Should that be the case now, there is no guarantee that PAS would not also sacrifice the country should it come to power.

If DAP is most powerful, we should ask: who is DAP, really? Masking its almost mono-racial character with the chimera of a multi-racial platform – when in truth, DAP’s priorities are unmistakably racial. After 40 years of Lim Kit Siang being a Parliamentarian, the opening of one Malay branch was deemed fit to shout about, as though it was an astounding achievement. DAP is multi-racial only in name, for its actual agenda is couched in racist sentiment.

PKR, on the other hand, is a party void of any ideological underpinning and instead revolves around the glorification of a man named Anwar Ibrahim. What is the crux of PKR’s struggle, or are they like their partners who yearn for power above all else? After all, if it is justice and anti-corruption that they are fighting for, then PKR should look to its own leader. Anwar Ibrahim has manipulated a section of the Malaysian populace with rhetoric, as though he is clean, pure, a beacon of integrity, while branding Umno leaders as corrupt, voracious and racist.

But Anwar Ibrahim should be mindful of his past deeds, for we surely have not forgotten. Switching to the opposition does not absolve him of his sins. As the pot calling the kettle black, Anwar’s past will shadow him no matter where he manoeuvres in the political arena.

Anwar tries to position himself as many things: the voice of the marginalised, a champion of Islam, the Malays and human rights. But is this truly Anwar Ibrahim, or is his political struggle motivated solely by personal ambitions? Anwar may have succeeded in deceiving some members of the younger generation who never really knew his true nature – a political chameleon who changes colour according to season. But Umno and Umno Youth most certainly remember the real Anwar, and we will ensure that this forked-tongue teller of tales will never make it in his quest to Putrajaya.

Delegates, BN was formed in the spirit of brotherhood and an accord to uphold the Federal Constitution and the fundamentals of our nationhood. This is the shared platform that exists in BN. But the opposition coalition has no such shared understanding, apart from the desire to wrest control of the Federal Government – even then, we still have no idea who would be made Prime Minister should the opposition take over. In forming what appeared to be a Shadow Cabinet, they took a safe and evidently only option of naming three members to each cabinet portfolio, for unlike our party, they have not reached an understanding in the question of power sharing which has been tried and tested in BN.

Unlike BN too, the opposition coalition is not grounded by principles – they do not uphold even the Constitution. This is evident in DAP’s relentless attack on the position of our rulers, the Malay language and Islam, whilst its partners PAS and PKR not only watch idly, but in fact cast aside basic principles of this nation.

We must continue to expose the opposition’s dirty tactics. We have never been afraid of them; it is they who actually fear us. They fear the leadership of YAB Datuk Seri Najib. Without new ideas that benefit the people, they are left with little more than political tactics that instigate trouble and manufacture despair.

The opposition is worried that the people will have a long memory of the cruelty suffered by the residents of Kampung Buah Pala. They fear their yet unfulfilled electoral promises of giving RM1,000 to each child in Selangor offered a place in university and reducing assessment tax by 20 percent, will come back to haunt them. In essence, they their lies, trickery and propaganda will finally be revealed to the people.

Brothers, let us stand united in exposing them for what they are. We must defeat an opposition bent on playing a dangerous game, willing to put everything on the line in its lust for power. We will never allow the Barisan Nasional government to be defeated by parties that in fact, undermine each other and possess no sincerity in their struggle. The opposition have no qualms in legitimizing wrongs and ignoring truths in the greed for power.

Delegates, We now see that the concept of 1Malaysia introduced by the President has succeeded in capturing the imagination of young people across the country. 1Malaysia is most appropriate in a time when the populace is hungry for a political vision based on the idea of unity and performance for the people. Guided by the spirit of 1Malaysia, Umno Youth has to abide by a new mission that will be the foundation of Umno Youth’s contemporary struggle. This is our new mission: to win the support of all Malaysians, and not just the Malays. In our words, agenda and strategy, Umno Youth must operate based on this new mission – giving hope to all Malaysian regardless of race, religion and background.

Umno, as BN’s biggest party must embrace a vision that demonstrates our leadership credentials – a leadership that is comprehensive, inclusive and national. This calls for courage because it requires us to shift away from our comfort zones of a communal party perspective to a more holistic political consciousness, which incorporates all.

I mention courage too, because we are now at a crossroads of our cause, where we can choose to remain on the same path with the same style and methods. We can continue with the chest-thumping rhetoric, warning other races never to challenge this or that. This option is easy, and may promise a measure of popularity within the party. But, we must ask ourselves, is this what Malaysians – Malays included – really want from Umno, especially when the President is bringing the message of unity through the concept of 1Malaysia? For the 21st century Umno Youth, the courageous choice is to position ourselves as the pioneers of national unity through the spirit of 1Malaysia.

Some may hold that it is the President who should carry a national message, whilst Umno Youth should carry on with what is familiar. But if we choose to do so, the people will view Umno as a party in disarray, hypocrites, without a consistent ideology for the people and electorate. And in the era of technology, which can expose any duplicity, we will be judged as a party that does not practise what it preaches. This means the entire institutions of party and government must be on the same page, carrying a consistent message. In this new context, do we want the President to speak about a transformation – removing barriers between races and communities – whilst Umno Youth stubbornly refuses to change, and instead, continues to voice something different from the President?

A change to this new path does not mean we forego the Malay agenda. Umno and Umno Youth will always fight for the Malays – protecting the status of Islam, the Malay rulers and the Malay language. These are the core elements of Umno’s struggle that will never dissipate from our agenda. However, we must pursue these things based on two principles: justice and compassion, especially when dealing with other races. This compass will underline our national agenda that is grounded not in the narrow concept of Malay dominance, but on the concept of Malay leadership – magnanimous as well as both just and compassionate.

In truth, if we were to look back at the history of Umno and BN’s leadership, the two principles of justice and compassion are firmly entrenched in our nation’s politics. Umno and BN have demonstrated the ability to fight for the welfare of all Malaysians. For example, the agenda of poverty alleviation is not premised on the basis of race alone, but is instead extended to all Malaysians who are less fortunate. Thus, grounded on a political foundation respected by all, the change and rejuvenation we need is for Umno and the Malays to be consistent in our national leadership for all Malaysians.

That all of society should be represented and respected is not only something considered a universal right; it comes also from our own religion. Umno as a governing party in BN often takes inspiration from Islam to guide its policies – for instance, the principle in Islam Hadhari that guarantees the protection of minority rights. Thus, there should be nothing strange in Malays also fighting for Malaysians as a whole. In fact, when we respect the beliefs of others, they too will better respect ours. Allah SWT commands in Surah Al An’am, verse 108:

“And insult not those who worship besides Allah, lest they insult Allah wrongfully without knowledge.”

Some may wonder if we should fight for other communities if they question our position as Malays. It is here that out leadership credentials will be tested. As the group of people given the responsibility and privilege to lead, Malays cannot simply follow the common beat – that would not be leadership. Instead, as leaders, Malays must rise above and go the extra mile. Only then will we have the ability to lead and be acknowledged as leaders who have wider recognition. This is another example of Malay leadership that I spoke of – a leadership that is just and compassionate, and accepted by all.

Delegates, The shift towards a more sound, national Malay leadership can best be achieved if Malays themselves make the leap to a political struggle based on a civilisational confidence. Civilisational confidence means as Malays, we are confident of our own ability to move forward, setting out a vision for success without being afraid of our own shadow. This is our generation’s challenge.

I speak of a generational challenge because for too long, Malays and Umno have been caught in a mindset that is negative and overly defensive. We feel as though we are constantly under siege, and all our efforts appear to be channeled towards protecting the Malay special position. I urge Malays, beginning with the youth, to get out of this siege mentality. Undeniably, we consider Article 153, which guarantees the special position of Malays and bumiputras as sacrosanct. However, if we scratch beneath the surface, we would find that it is almost impossible for Article 153 to be stripped from the Constitution, as it would require the approval of two-thirds of Parliament. And in the improbable situation were this to occur, it would still require consent from the Council of Rulers. This should serve as a reminder that realistically, our special position as stipulated in the Constitution cannot possibly be changed.

But consider this: Article 153 in itself does not guarantee progress and development for the Malays. Constitutional provisions do not make us ‘special’ or extraordinary, it is the performance and achievements of Malays that will determine if we are.

Rights and privileges of the Malays are important. But more important is how the Malays are empowered in order to truly succeed. What is needed is a new dimension to our cause so that the economic share and status of Malays can be advanced, consistent with the spirit of Malay empowerment we must collectively pursue. Umno and the Malays as a whole must move away from a defensive setting, where we assume that our rights are under threat, to a people equipped with our own civilisational confidence – carving a vision of progress for the future. This is the new Malay dilemma – the generational question of our time which must be addressed: are we going to defend symbols for their sake, or are we bold and courageous enough to accept the reality that there needs to be a change in both vision and mechanisms to see Malays forge ahead? I believe the answer lies in the latter.

I believe this new vision is also one held by the President, who for example, recently abolished the 30 percent bumiputra equity requirement for companies going for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on Bursa Malaysia. Most certainly, the President made this decision not because of a lack of commitment to the Malay agenda, but because the “30 percent” mechanism has failed to achieve its original aims.

The President himself mentioned that from RM54bil worth of shares given to bumiputras through this mechanism, only RM2bil remains – sold for a quick profit. Thus proving that there are symbols and mechanisms we have defended in the past, which have not succeeded in their objectives.

It is significant that when the President abolished the said Bumiputera equity requirement, he introduced Ekuiti Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas) as an investment institution that can encourage the growth of high-potential Bumiputera companies. This is the shift pioneered by the President – channeling adequate assistance to deserving and talented Malays. There is no preoccupation with symbolic mechanisms that only serve to stifle competitiveness of the Malays and give us a false sense of confidence without a meaningful contribution towards genuine Malay economic development.

Fulfilling the vision for our community’s advancement would require the confidence to accept competition based our own on merit and abilities. Let us not speak of meritocracy between races if we cannot first practise it within our own community. As members of the younger generation, we must avoid the culture of destroying budding talents before they are realised. It would be a great shame if, motivated by jealousy, we work to bring down Malays with potential for our own twisted pleasure. We must rid ourselves of envy and resentment towards other Malays. Instead, we should assist and encourage each other towards success. This is the meaning of ”civilisational confidence” – we fear not our own shadow.

My dream is to one day see local institutions of higher education filled with Malays not because of quotas, but because Malays are there based on merit. Whilst we protect the quotas now, let us not forget that they are only supposed to aid us, and not be a lifeline for the Malays unto perpetuity. The Malay vision is not about defending quotas indefinitely, but to stand proud seeing Malays succeed on their own strengths.

There is no reason to be pessimistic about our own potential – the confidence to accept more open competition already exists in our cultural DNA. Are we going to stand here and claim that history has never demonstrated the Malays as hardworking and able to overcome challenges to accomplish goals? Simply look at Malay proverbs, which encourage perseverance, diligence, thriftiness, as well as responsiveness to challenges and the world around, such as:

Kalau tak dipecahkan ruyung manakan dapat sagunya Sabar penghilang penat, tekun pembawa dekat Rajin bekerja mudah belanja Cermat masa banyak, jimat masa sedikit Cicir dipungut, hilang dicari Dalam berselam, cetek bertimba

Such a vision and shift also calls for courage from the Malays to look ahead, with the self-confidence and self-belief to achieve progress. As the youths of our time, ours is the generation that can make that change. Ours is the generation that can insist that we have had enough! Enough of putting down our own race. Enough of being crippled by the illusion that says Malays are slow, Malays are lazy, Malays are stupid. Ours is the generation that can stand up to the challenge by saying that Malays are no longer afraid to face the outside world because Malays are not slow, Malays are not lazy, Malays are not stupid. On the contrary, Malays are a majestic people – intelligent and multi-talented. Malay youths of this generation must lead our community out of this crippling mindset that has eroded our self-belief, towards progress and development in the future – this is our struggle.

Bangunlah Bangsaku

Delegates, Let us, as Umno Youth leaders, stand behind our President and Deputy President, let us all defend the government which has stood the test of time, overcoming many barriers and challenges, without ever sacrificing its basic principles of struggle. The government that has been with us through good times and bad, that has worked tirelessly to develop this nation, without having to dish out false promises simply to be in power.

Let us wake up to the fact that we are at a crossroads of our cause. This is the moment we, as members of the young generation, unite to steer our struggle towards glory and distinction – towards a great civilisation. Stand all, and answer the call, bring hope, meet our obligations in the name of our religion, people, and country.

"Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds."

This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat' (in Mecca).

After praising, and thanking God he said:

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. God has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. God has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn 'Abd'al Muttalib (Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived...

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember, one day you will appear before God and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people".

Khairy Jamaluddin - Working to Provide Stewardship.

It is common knowledge these days that Khairy Jamaluddin’s most notorious enemies are not outside the party, but rather are made up of individuals within the party.

The Party President who seems hell bent on gaining support back for UMNO is being sabotaged by these individuals on many fronts, individuals whose only interest is to replace KJ with their candidate of choice as Ketua Pemuda, they are equally hell bent on dogging KJ everywhere he goes and making sure that he fails in bringing back support for UMNO and the Barisan Nasional, adding to Datuk Seri Najib’s growing headaches.

These self-absorbed critics fail to realize that the reality is that their candidates are not those of the younger generation who want too see a new breed of leaders who provide stewardship rather than those who can only lead or be led by the nose kind of politicians.

The reality is that these guys who aspire and work hard to bring down one of their own are actually individuals who have no love for the party. They wait for opportunities to whack KJ without any consideration for the damage they wreck on the party.

The current obsession among this group of saboteurs of UMNO and KJ is to attempt to paint KJ as working hand in glove with the opposition. They try to paint this picture by alluding to the issues that KJ has been championing for example the setting of Royal Commission and a review of the ISA. All issues I might point out which has been well received by Dato Seri Najib.

We live in the 21st century, where worldwide there is a longing for politicians who are able to rise to the occasion and go beyond party boundaries when required and when the need is urgent.

Dato Seri Najib recognizes this and why political parties worldwide are changing to respond to the growing number of young people who want to affect the political system. These young people want to see politicians who are able to do and say the rights things and not just follow the party line.

These young people have a different set of ‘KPI’s’ from which they judge a politician, and party loyalty is not top of the list.

It must be pointed out with all honesty that these young people are not in UMNO yet and they certainly do not think like the present batch of UMNO youth types, I am talking about the growing youth bank vote which does not want political parties to abuse the power they have through legislation like the ISA, youths who do not want to see government agencies abused for political expediency and many issues which today are championed more by the opposition that by parties in the BN.

Khairy Jamaluddin to a certain extent has tried to reach out to these youth but is acutely aware of his enemies within who because of their old school thinking and ulterior motive are trying their best from stopping him by hook or by crook.

Non-partisan politics is a common feature of most developed countries. It is not surprising that here in Malaysia these anti-KJ types cannot fathom the need to be non-partisan when the need is urgent.

Khairy Jamaluddin – My Idol.

It is hard to say exactly when I first met or heard the name Khairy Jamaluddin. But it was quite early in 2000. When he was battling harmful verbal gestures by… you know who.

I was an early joiner of UMNO through a UMNO Youth Division and State Chief by invitation due to flaws by some opposites.

At that time, I followed Khairy Jamaluddin’s moves avidly. Newspapers and the online media had extensive coverage of his whereabouts although they tried to wane his popularity as it became clear his rivals (the opposition party) was coming for defeat.

As I improved my knowledge on politics and/or leadership, I have always seen Khairy Jamaluddin as an example.

Having won an important role in the country, it is with great importance that the youth will be able to understand certain criteria within the laws and at the same time try to change youth’s destiny. Whether history will repeat itself, depends on the people of the country, all he can do is to try to advice and set new ‘software’s’ to fit in the current ‘hardware’ which has already been done by previous premiers.

At the peak now in Pemuda UMNO Malaysia, even former adversaries have to admire his way. Within Barisan Nasional, top leaders have analyzed his victory in the recent Pemilihan.

Someone suggested that he gained the upper hand with a ‘queen move’ to which I always reply that it is faith that took him there.

By now the once strong rival of Khairy Jamaluddin has been mum over his victory, setting the record that the ‘Youth for Youth’ point was as honest and suitable to the best.

I am often asked if I ever had the chance or opportunity to ride beside or discuss certain issues with Khairy Jamaluddin. The answer is no, I never had the opportunity.

But even though it is within his knowledge of my existence in Pemuda UMNO and me being a strong supporter of his, I hope to soon have the chance to thank him for all the good things he has done for the Youth of the nation.

The biggest slap of all time was when a quote was proven right during the race for the Ketua Pemuda UMNO seat, professionals built the titanic, amateurs built the ark.

The people of Rembau entrusted Khairy Jamaluddin to be their representative and their voice, and in reply, as a Muslim, this is what he posted in his Facebook page:
Allah doth command you to render back your Trusts to those to whom they are due; And when ye judge between man and man, that ye judge with justice: Verily how excellent is the teaching which He giveth you! For Allah is He Who heareth and seeth all things.

How I wish that my Idol, Khairy Jamaluddin could have been for us, for Langkawi.

There are many ways to see him in the best possible way. For me, I see him as a leader and my Idol.

ANTARA HUSIN LEMPOYANG DENGAN UNTA

Saya menulis artikel ini bukan kerana saya marah dengan blogger Husin Lempoyang, saya menulis artikel ini kerana saya kesian kat dia dan orang-orang yang bersekutu denganya.
Sebenarnya beliau mempunyai simptom penyakit psikologi dalam bahasa Inggerisnys disebut sebagai masalah diri yang cuba di ‘project’ kepada orang lain.

"Projection is the most profound and subtle of our psychological processes, and extremely difficult to work with, because by its nature, it is hidden. It is the fundamental mechanism by which we keep our selves uninformed about ourselves. Humor has great value in any attempt to work with projection, because humor presents a forgiving posture and thereby removes the threatening nature of any enquiry into the truth" - (Wikipedia).

Nak pendekkan cerita, beliau mengunakan teknik jenaka dalam tulisannya untuk menyembunyikan masalah dirinya sendiri, dan masalah ini dilantun kepada orang lain. Maknanya ‘projection’ ini akan lebih berjaya jika dicampur dengan elemen jenaka.

Jadi jika beliau banyak merujuk kepada bahagian sulit seseorang, sebenarnya beliau kemungkinan besar sedang mengalami masalah dengan bahagian sulitnya sendiri. Dalam tulisan beliau "Khasiat telor setengah masak sama kicap dan lada sula" beliau cuba melantun masalah bahagian sulit yang kecil beliau dan sikap pondannya yang berselindung dibelakang nama samaran kepada orang lain seperti Khairy Jamaluddin.

Penulis blogger seperti Husin Lempoyang dan kawan-kawannya tidak boleh kita ubah dengan mengutuk atau dibalas dengan dengan apa cara sekalipun. Mereka tidak akan berubah dan tidak akan faham, sebab mereka besar kemungkinan sedang mengalami masalah mental dan mereka hanya boleh dirawat melalui kaedah psikologi.

Saya menyarankan ahli-ahli KJFC supaya tidak menghabiskan masa dan tenaga untuk menjawab atau bermusuhan dengan beliau. Anggap sahaja ini bukan cara orang Islam menulis untuk mengaibkan seorang lagi yang beragama Islam. Balasannya kelak hanya Tuhan yang boleh tentukan. Jika benar beliau sakit, selamatlah beliau, kalau tidak….
Anggap sahaja Husin ini membuang masa sahaja menulis bendan yang tak berfaedah, bagi saya beza antara sebuah Unta dan Husin Lempoyang ialah,

Khairy Jamaluddin - Satu Enigma.

Saya selalu menyatakan ada dua jenis pemimpin politik, satu jenis pemimpin politik ialah yang banyak menghabiskan masa untuk menghadiri program-program parti, mereka ini sentiasa berada ditempat yang betul pada masa yang tepat, dimana sahaja Boss berada, dia akan muncul. Satu jenis lagi pemimpin adalah individu yang banyak membaca dan berusaha untuk memperkayakan diri dengan ilmu dan kemahiran, mereka ini selalunya nampak serius dan tidak mempunyai banyak masa untuk bersosial.

Walaupun kedua-dua mereka jenis pemimpin ini penting tetapi bagi saya mesti ada keseimbangan, malangnya di Malaysia ahli politik yang paling berjaya adalah mereka dari golongan yang pertama, dimana mereka tak banyak buat kerja tetapi selalu pandai muncul tepat pada masanya, iaitu bila Boss ada.

Khairy Jamaluddin merupakan ahli politik kelas kedua iaitu individu yang banyak membaca, rajin memperkayakan diri dengan ilmu dan kemahiran, tetapi malangnya ini juga merupakan sifat-sifat yang kurang disenangi kerana beliau kurang menghabiskan masa untuk bersosial dengan ahli parti, pergi karaoke, bawa ahli pergi makan lewat malam dan bersuka-ria.

Budaya memilih pemimpin yang hanya pandai berada pada tempat yang betul pada masa yang tepat akan merugikan parti, bangsa dan negara. Dan kesediaan untuk pemimpin memberi lebih banyak ruang kepada ahli sebegini akan membentuk satu budaya yang tidak akan mengalakkan lebih ramai ahli yang mempunyai kemahiran, ilmu dan perwatakan yang serius dan berfokus meluangkan masa untuk berjuang bersama parti.

Hari ini kalau kita lihat balik barisan kepimpinan yang berada dihadapan , kita boleh menilai jenis pemimpin yang diberi tempat. Kalau kita hendak melihat pemimpin politik seperti saudara Khairy Jamaluddin diberi tempat kita harus menuntut satu perubahan sikap, sesuai dengan saranan Dato’ Seri Najib untuk menilai kemampuan mengikut pencapaian KPI.

Malangnya ahli-ahli parti sendiri tidak menilai mengikut presatasi kerja, mereka lebih suka ikut kriteria pemimpin yang dapat bersosial dan bergembira bersama. Saya tidak hairan kenapa ada pemimpin politik tertentu tidak mahu budaya memilih peimipin mengikut syarat MERIT atau kualiti kerja, kerana saya faham mereka ini tidak mahu ada cabaran, dan mereka ini lebih sedar siapa diri mereka dalam cerminan diri mereka.

Khairy Jamaluddin akan tetap menjadi perhatian bukan hanya kerana beliau merupakan enigma tetapi kerana beliau meletakkan ‘standard’ untuk pencapaian yang sentiasa menjadi halangan kepada pemimpin yang hanya pandai berada di tempat yang betul pada masa yang tepat.

Kenapa saya mengelar Khairy Jamaluddin seorang enigma?
Kerana hingga ke hari ini, ramai masih bertanya-tanya siapakah Khairy Jamaluddin yang sebenarnya. Belum pun soalan ini terjawab sepenuhnya, sudah ada musuh yang membuat andaian tanpa merujuk kepada sebarang penilaian berasaskan bukti.

Tetapi yang nyata beliau seringkali membuat lawan politiknya cemas, beliau mempunyai ramai yang mengkagumi kebolehannya. Suka atau tidak, lawan atau kawan, kebolehannya tidak dipertikaikan; lawan politiknya hanya merujuk kepada usia dan pengalaman sebagai alasan melawan.

Sayang kerana beliau tak pandai berada ditempat yang betul pada masa yang tepat.

Namun syukur, beliau tidak perlu.

Pemuda UMNO Bukan Lahir Sebagai Pejuang Jalanan

Sabtu ini, penyokong Pro dan anti ISA , masing masing akan berarak bagi menyatakan pandangan mereka mengenai ISA. Jelas kita akan sama sama mengira berapa ramaikah penyokong Pro ISA dan penyokong anti ISA yang akan dikumpulkan. Apabila dua penyokong Pro dan anti berada di jalanan dan masing-masing akan cuba menunjukkan kekuatan masing-masing dan seandainya ada hilang kawalan , maka akan tercetuslah satu keganasan.

Yang susah adalah orang awam yang tidak berminat dengan politik , peniaga yang mahu mencari rezeki terpaksa menutup kedai yang merupakan punca rezeki mereka. Pelancong akan melihat betapa rakyat Malaysia yang mengamal budaya jalanan. Apakah dengan berdemonstrasi di jalanan akan mengubah keputusan kerajaan, Ini Malaysia dan bukan nya Thailand atau Indonesia. Sejarah penunjuk perasaan kita belum sampai ke tahap yang mereka berani merengkok didalam penjara lagi. Mereka tidak mungkin memilih penjara apabila tidur malam di rumah dalam bilik berhawa dingin dan makan makanan yang lazat lazat.

Apa keuntungan mereka ini berdemonstrasi melainkan menunjukkan ke tidak matangan mereka dalam mencari penyelesaian.Pastinya pihak Polis akan memberikan amaran dan pastinya yang bersalah akan ditahan dan direman beberapa hari. Siapa yang rugi. Pastinya juga kita tidak akan dapat memasuki Bandar Raya minggu ini kerana sikap yang tidak bertanggung jawab mereka yang mahu melakukan demonstrasi ini. Siapakah mereka ini. Majoritinya yang akan berada di jalanan ini adalah bangsa Melayu.

Nampaknya Anwar Ibrahim tersenyum kerana budaya yang dipupuknya kini telah menular di kalangan orang-orang Melayu yang anti beliau sebelum ini. Jelas orang-orang ini juga yang mahu mencari penyelesaian dengan jalan yang lakukan oleh Anwar Ibrahim selama ini.Jika ini dilakukan setiap minggu . Siapa yang akan menanggung akibatnya nanti. Rakyat yang tidak berdosa , kerana ini akan meruntuhkan juga ekonomi negara dan membayangkan bahawa kerajaan kita sekarang tidak stabil.

Apa yang diseru oleh Khairy Jamaluddin kepada Pemuda UMNO adalah satu yang waras dan bijak. Kita bukan hanya mahu menjadi hero dijalanan. Pemuda bukan beridentitikan demonstartor jalanan. Pemuda bukan bangsat dan hingusan mencari publisiti murahan secara yang tidak waras. Pemuda bukan satu pertubuhan jalanan dan tidak berjuang dij alan raya. Kami bersetuju dengan saranan Khairy Jamalauddin agar Pemuda jangan ikut serta dalam perhimpunan Sabtu ini, Khairy tidak perlu risau dengan kutukan sesiapa ke atas saranan ini , kerana mereka yang mengutuk ini adalah mereka yang sebenarnya mahu mencari publisiti murahan. Tetap kan pendirian dan pastikan pemuda UMNO tidak turut serta menyokong budaya Anwar Ibrahim ini.

Nota : Tahniah kepada saudara Parpukari yang begitu hebat mengutuk saranan Khairy Jamaluddin kerana menghalang Pemuda untuk berdemonstrasi. Untuk pengetahuan saudara Parpukari. Jika anda merasakan bahawa anda hero kerana menjadi dalang kepada perarakan ini , kami hanya mengucapkan syabas kerana menggunakan jalanan sebagai jalan penyelesaian kepada sebarang kekalutan. Saya berharap dapat melihat gambar Parpukari tidur di bawah tayar Truck FRU seperti yang dilakukan oleh Tian Chua sebelum ini. Tapi biasa mamak ni penakut sikit , berani masa ramai saja.

Umno Youth wants ISA amended, not abolished

KULIM: The Umno Youth the Internal Security Act (ISA) to be amended rather than abolished.

Its chief Khairy Jamaluddin said that the abolishment of the act was an option but it would be better to amend it so that there would not be any room for abuse.

"Any act that will replace the ISA should have the same objective, that is to safeguard the country's security.

“At the moment it is not proper to abolish the ISA," he told reporters after opening the Kulim-Bandar Baharu Umno Youth and Puteri Umno meetings here Saturday.

He was asked to comment on the remark by former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Friday, in which he called on the government to abolish or amend the ISA.

Khairy said, ISA was still relevant as a preemptive measure against security threats, including terrorism.

Other countries had also enacted laws similar to the ISA, he added.

Meanwhile Khairy called on Umno Youth members to be more focus in their preparation to face the next general election.

He said the tide of change among the people, especially among the young, was sweeping in favour the Barisan Nasional as could be seen in the recent Manik Urai state by-election in Kelantan.

Khairy also sent condolences to the Indonesian people and the families of the victims of the bomb blasts that killed eight people and injuring dozens others in Jakarta Friday. - Bernama

Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang says Pas is willing to hold talks if Umno is sincere.

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Rakyat pulled itself back from the brink of collapse yesterday by repudiating unity government talks with Umno and the Barisan Nasional.

"The Pakatan Rakyat council of leaders reaffirms our rejection of the idea of forming a unity government with Umno/Barisan Nasional," Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said after an hour-long meeting of the alliance's three parties in Parliament yesterday.

However, Anwar, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat leader, said in a joint statement that Pakatan agreed to an "open approach and is willing to hold discussions with the BN on issues of national interest".

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang said collaboration with the BN, which had been floated by senior Pas leaders, had sorely tested Pakatan.

"We have experienced our first crisis of confidence. But we have come together. This joint statement shows that we are committed to moving forward to show that we are different from BN."

Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang accused Umno of fomenting the impression that Pas was leaving Pakatan.

"This is a slander to get us to fight among ourselves."

Hadi, however, said Pas was willing to hold talks if Umno was "sincere".

Asked if the unity talks proposal from Pas had affected solidarity among the Pakatan parties, Anwar said: "When the issue arose, I called Hadi, who was overseas, and he was consistent in his stand that there were no plans for Pas to leave PR."

Anwar and Hadi denied there was a running dispute between Pas deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa and spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat over the proposed talks.

The top-level Pakatan meeting yesterday was brought about after Hadi and Nasharuddin backed discussions with Umno, which triggered unease among Pas, PKR and DAP allies.

Nik Aziz slammed Nasharuddin last week, asking him to quit the party and join Umno.

Pas leaders who attended the meeting yesterday included vice-presidents Salahuddin Ayub and Datuk Mahfuz Omar, secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali and central committee member Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

Nasharuddin was not present.

Doesn’t it bite you when people just reject the notion to change towards betterment? It definitely bites me.

I’m not too sure what is it about me that get irritated with these few male-gaggles within UMNO; Pemuda UMNO to be more specific. I’m not connected actively in politics. I used to, but then due to a précised third occurrence, I gave way to them. Join them or leave; I read it somewhere.

Getting active in politics is a choice not necessarily a must.

But what a must is, we MUST protect our religion, race and country (well knowingly – Agama, Bangsa dan Negara).

Just a few hours ago, I came across a westerner. Quite possible a free thinker or a maybe a radical-westerner-Christian lookalike. I’m not too sure how we landed up talking about Obama’s trip to the Middle East, but we got there. During his argument about the particular issue at hand, he uttered ‘Radical Muslim’.

At that moment, I felt the blood rushing to my head – ringing the ‘Pissed-Off’ bell and I sprayed. I made it clear to him about the radicalism of my religion, Islam. It’s quite easy to shut these people up just by pointing 1 particular point from the Bible without making out any stories about whoever; in the Bible, Genesis 3; verse no. 16 states: To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you".

A curse to be received four times in a row.

There are many more parts that can be pointed out, but then I am a person who respects the fifth principle of my country’s National Principles or Rukun Negara.

Where I live, active politicians are more worried about their personal future rather than the race’s future. But when they are given the mic, ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! They deliver fiery speeches as if they were the ones protecting their land like ‘Ultraman’.

Protecting comes from the heart.

Start protecting your ‘home’ then yourself.

It’s easy to talk but action is difficult, so try in making a start.

Malaysia's Anwar sues FM for alleged defamation.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim filed a $28.5 million defamation suit Wednesday against the foreign minister for saying that Anwar had tried to bribe him to join his party.

Anwar's lawyer filed the lawsuit in the Kuala Lumpur High Court, seeking monetary damages and an order to prevent Foreign Minister Anifah Aman from repeating the claim. The suit names the Malaysian government as a co-defendant.

It seeks compensatory damages of 100 million ringgit ($28.5 million) and other unspecified punitive damages.

Anwar's three-party People's Alliance made unprecedented gains in general elections in March 2008, winning more than a third of the 222 parliamentary seats and five of 13 states.

Following the elections, Anwar said he would soon topple the government because many ruling National Front coalition lawmakers were ready to join his party. However, his claim never materialized.

Anifah told reporters during a trip to Washington earlier this month that Anwar had tried to "buy" National Front parliamentarians, including himself, to defect.

In his suit, Anwar said Anifah's claims were "of a most serious and damaging nature, recklessly and negligently made."

Anifah was not immediately available for comment but told reporters last week that he was too busy with his work to worry about Anwar's suit. He has said he stands by his comments, which were made during a news conference with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Anifah said he was offered a "very lucrative position" in a new government led by Anwar if he defected from the National Front.

Anwar himself is facing legal troubles. Last June, an aide claimed Anwar had sodomized him - a crime that is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. The trial is scheduled to start in July.

Anwar was previously convicted of corruption and sodomy after being fired as deputy prime minister in a National Front government. Anwar denies the charge and claims it was politically motivated after a fallout with then Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

Dah pecah tembelang! Dah terbukti! Sudah terjawab cabaran. Kak Min sudah berjaya menjawab cabaran PKR untuk membuktikan bahawa beliau ada dikunjungi oleh "orang-orang kuat" PKR membawa "sogokan" jawatan dan wang ringgit. Menjawab segala "herdikan" dan "cemuhan" Tian Chua dan Pengerusi Perhubungan Negeri PKR, Kak Min telah membuat laporan kepada Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya(SPR) dan Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) bersama sama buktinya yang merupakan sekeping CD dan rakaman telefon bimbit. Maka gundah gulanalah puak-puak PKR sekalian. Mereka di ambang tuduhan rasuah!

Ketika mengalami tuduhan itu, maka muncullah seorang yang pernah menjawat jawatan "pakar strategi" PKR untuk menjawab keributan ini bagi pihak PKR. Saifudin Nasution muncul untuk "memperbaiki" keadaan. Saifudin dengan bangganya "mengaku" bahawa sememangnya "benar" ada beberapa individu dari PKR yang pergi berjumpa dengan Kak Min menawarkan "sedekah" kepadanya! Namun, Saifudin menafikan bahawa PKR telah menghantar individu-individu terbabit dan itu bukanlah tindakan "rasmi" dari PKR. Dia juga mendakwa bahawa Kak Min mempunyai hunbungan rapat dengan individu tersebut sebelum ini dan Kak Min sendiri adalah merupakan bekas Ketua Wanita PKR Pulau Pinang. Itulah ulasan si Saifudin. "Hero spin" la katakan...

Sambil tersenyum sumbing, saya mencebik seraya berkata "hari tu cabar Kak Min, kata macam-macam kat dia, sekarang??? Hari tu kata Kak Min tipu, dah bawa bukti pi report kat SPR baru gelabah biawak!" Rasa macam nak "meletup" pula mendengar Si Saifudin ni!

Sekarang sudah terbukti. Kak Min punya bukti dan sudah diserahkan kepada SPR dan SPRM. Kini barulah jelas, siapa yang menipu dan siapa yang benar. Tian Chua dan Pengerusi Perhubungan Negeri PKR Pulau Pinang sudah terduduk! Kelu lidah! Telah kalah ego lelaki mereka apabila herdikan mereka sebelum ini telah "dikalahkan" sebelum pilihanraya lagi. Mana hendak disorokkan muka? Jika mereka berdua punya maruah, mesti mereka akan rasa malu dan "segan" nak tunjuk muka pada masyarakat! Tapi kalau dah tak tahu malu tu, entahlah...apakah mereka masih punya "malu" lagi???

Setelah satu persatu dibukakan Allah keaiban PKR. Bermula dengan peristiwa tak jadi "16 September" dan sehinggalah cerita "Kak Min", sudah banyak Allah bukakan aib PKR untuk dipertontonkan kepada Rakyat. Kes-kes seperti "16 September", Eli Wong, Fairus, Raja Petra Kamarudin dan peristiwa Kak Min adalah beberapa kes terkini perdedahan "kekarutan" PKR. Itu belum lagi diungkit semua "kudis", "kurap" dan "panau" PKR dan De Factonya!

Sesungguhnya kini Allah telah mengangkat yang benar dengan "mengangkat" Dato' Seri Najib sebagai Perdana Menteri dan "membuka pekung" PKR yang selama ini hidup sebagai "pemfitnah" dengan mendedahkan pelbagai perkara karut marut PKR Anwar, walaupun Anwar suatu masa dahulu adalah amat hampir kepada jawatan Perdana Menteri itu sendiri. Alhamdulillah, Allah itu Maha Berkuasa dan Maha Adil. Dikurniakan "kuasa" kepada yang berhak dan ditarikNya kuasa dari manusia yang durjana!

Hakikatnya, kalau ketuanya perasuah itu, maka parti yang diketuainya pastilah "suka"kan rasuah. "Apabila kepala itu busuk, maka badan hingga ke ekornya pastilah busuk!". Apabila "bapak rasuah" yang pernah dipenjarakan di atas tuduhan rasuah itu menjadi "ketua", pasti anak-anak buahnya akan mencontohinya. Kini terbukti, dan buktinya di dedahkan secara nyata oleh "bekas" Ketua Wanita PKR Pulau Pinang sendiri! Sudahlah PKR, tarik dirilah! Biarlah Kak Min menang, mungkin dia tak kebulur jawatan TKM I, tapi dia sudah sedar dan tahu bahawa PKR memang "putar alam" suka menipu!

Greek Gods; The Titans, The Olympians and the Lessor Gods, and some private companies have got one particular characteristic in common. They operate above the law, bending it to the maximum. The other part where leadership comes into the act would be the moment of castrating.

According to the Greek myth, Cronus (the ruler of the Titans) came to power by castrating his father (Uranus). To ensure his safety Cronus ate each one of his children as they were given birth by his wife, Rhea. This went on until one day when Rhea had enough of what was going on, tricked Cronus into swallowing a rock, instead of Zeus.

An adult Zeus revolted against his father and other of the Titans, defeated them, and banished them to Tartarus in the underworld. The god grew up, forced Cronus to disgorge his swallowed offspring, and led The Olympians in a ten year war against The Titans.

He then drew lots with his brothers Poseidon and Hades.

Zeus won the draw and became the supreme ruler of the gods. He is lord of the sky, the rain god. His weapon is a thunderbolt which he flings at those who displease him.

(Or so say the myth).

Greek Gods always play hero. They act like they’ve won even though they’ve lost. Like the Americans.

Let’s go straight to the point now; Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is taking cheap shots all the time, and we act like fools listening to him. And some even believes him. Someone on my facebook list sent me a message saying that DSAI pays his secretariats during any election RM 20,000 each to work on behalf of PKR.

It’s such ashamed the way he campaigns, hovering around the northern region with his clan and, again, fooling people in what exactly they want to listen. Sometimes I can’t believe that I’m actually surrounded by these people.

All that he is playing is with people’s emotions; keep on reminding the audience what he did when he was with BN and of course only the good part.

DSAI as known better as ‘The Opportunist’, keeps on repeating the same issues just in different tones and words arrangements if one tries to listen.

Malaysia belongs to all of us, Malaysians. Filled with absolutely racial equity and I’m being really egotistical about it.

What some of us want is just some minor changes, that’s why this guy who strappingly supports the call of the anus uses to word ‘reformasi’ to baffle voters.

Evidently, solving issues fascistically works out well for propositions pertaining but at the same time it creates hatred and unnecessary tension. It’s difficult being the nice guy.

We all had our fair share of mistakes of being hushed about the topic. As we all knew and please be honest about it, we all wanted the opposition to have a stronger voice due to these very minority within Barisan Nasional but if a few thousand of us would to think alike, which happened, now we all will have to face the consequences.

Nietzsche (1887-1967, a German Philosopher) argued that those who are threatened by the possibility of their own inferiority have a desire to deaden pain by means of affect. Thus, feeling pleasure at another’s misfortune can act as an “imaginary revenge” against the threat of inferiority.

In essence, Nietzsche who also displayed interests to aphorism suggested that the affective pleasure of an imaginary revenge is a way in which in-groups can compensate for a status inferiority that threatens their self-worth. Nietzsche described an imaginary revenge as extremely opportunistic. Given that it is passive and indirect, an imaginary revenge relies on circumstances that cause another’s misfortune and make it legitimate for the in-group to enjoy the opportunity of self pleasure.

Imaginary revenge functions as free-lunch revenge: effortlessly, you feel you have conquered your enemy.

So, DSAI is a complete opposition leader and an American-Jewish ally. Why say so? He acts like one of the most powerful family in the US, the Bush’s. He behaves like Greek Gods and he pretends that he’s won.

Again, I would put it this way. Who is DSAI?
He is a man filled with an excruciating deadly concoction of spreading a paralyzing mess through air, cultivated with paradoxical thoughts.

Khairy ticks off PKR leaders on ‘Hotel Democracy’.

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has chided PKR leaders for treating democracy like a hotel where they can check in and out whenever they wished.

He said the resignation of Penanti assemblyman Mohamad Fairus Khairudin was proof that PKR did not uphold democracy and respect the wishes of the people who voted him in.

“You must honour your pledge to be their representative and not resign as and when you like. This is not a hotel where you can check in and check out anytime you feel like doing so.

“This involves the trust and expectations of the people who supported you,” he said after a meet-the-people session at the Guar Perahu mosque near here yesterday.

Khairy said his movement has started its meet-the-people programmes which would be continued even if by-elections are held in the areas.

“By-elections are not the main reason for Umno to be close to the people. We will be with them rain or shine,” he added.

Khairy said the wing had expressed its views on whether Barisan Nasional should contest in the Penanti by-election but declined to elaborate, adding that the wing would gather information and present them to the party leadership before a decision is made on Monday.

Khairy also urged opposition parties not to be engrossed in politicking as it was detrimental to the country which was facing an economic slowdown.

He expressed the hope that the Perak Mentri Besar issue would be resolved either through the courts or the state assembly and that the majority support in the assembly should be respected.

Khairy Jamaluddin says BN is not fearful of state elections in Perak.

SEREMBAN: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday hit out at opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for daring Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak to call for elections in Perak.

Khairy said Barisan Nasional was not afraid of state elections as alleged by Anwar. "We have nothing to be afraid of and are ready to face the people." He also called the Parti Keadilan Rakyat leader a hypocrite for courting defections last year but favouring elections when they occurred against the Pakatan Rakyat."When things work in their favour, they are quiet but when we managed to obtain a stay of execution, they claim there's a conspiracy.

"Ultimately, it is a question of principles, consistency and standards, which is something they (the opposition) don't stand for," he said after attending an Umno Youth meeting at the state Umno building near here yesterday.Khairy said the political situation in Perak could only be solved through two processes -- legal or legislative."Let the legal process be completed first before proceeding with the legislative process," he said, adding that Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir was the rightful Perak menteri besar as BN had the majority of state seats.

Ahmad said this was a reason for Umno and Barisan Nasional's dismal performance in the March 8, 2008 general election."One of the main functions of our information machinery now would be to embark on methods to engage the young people by using the Internet."We are fully aware of the role of the new media in raising political awareness among the young. We must admit that the new media has been very effective in doing so," said Ahmad, who is also a deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department.He was speaking after visiting the New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad at Balai Berita here last week.

He was welcomed by NSTP group editor-in-chief Datuk Hishamuddin Aun and other senior officers. Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein would be signing the release of the three HINDRAF leaders and they are M. Manoharan, P. Uthayakumar and K. Vasantha Kumar.

It is also said to be that the move is not politically motivated. On the other hand MIC Youth's coordinator, T. Mohan said, the youth wing hoped that the detention of the five, which he believes led to the Indians throwing their support behind the Opposition in the March 2008 general election, would be forgotten.

“We sincerely hope that the Indians would return en masse to support MIC, the sole Indian representative in the Barisan Nasional coalition.

“Their continued detention was a stumbling block towards MIC reaching out to the Indians,” he claimed.

He said MIC Youth would “go to the ground to publicise the efforts of the Najib government which has been proactive to the needs of the Indian community.”

Mother tongue, English, Math’s, Science, whats next…

This article was written by a friend of mine, Mr. Stephen Doss. Do read it and ponder upon it.

I think it is timely that we revisit the issues of the teaching of English for Science and Maths as the Education Ministry is about to make public its decision soon on the subject. My sources say that there has been much discussion and the Ministry is thinking of putting forward a compromise decision. Tahap 1 where the mother tongue language will prevail for the teaching of math’s and science (Tahap 1 being children from Standards 1 to 3) and Tahap 2 is where Math’s and Science will be taught in English (Tahap 2 is from standards 4 to 5)
I think this is a wise decision under the circumstances. Not necessarily the best but the wisest.
As Malaysians we all care about this country, about what happens to us, and that is because we care about the future of this country.
In this country the nature of politics is so adversarial, so partisan, that every discussion becomes a sum total of win or lose, things become so emotional.
And especially in this country, we see our politicians so fond of taking the easy way out in getting support, they racialize everything. Everything is about race, religion or culture.
Today language is being racialized. Rather than arguing their case rationally. Groups of people have decided to coerce or threaten policy makers with shows of force, of numbers.
As a nation it would seem that we have yet to learn how to agree to disagree. I am sure that not all of you will agree to everything that I write about, but that is only an indication of a mature mind, and it isn’t always about total consensus.
When it comes to knowledge it is not about quotas, it cannot be, about emotion, it should not be politicized, racialized or monopolized by any one group of people.
There are many arguments for and against the teaching of math’s and science in English.
Just to recap the arguments, allow me to put forward my personal views;
There is no denying that English is important, but the teaching of math’s and science in English is not about improving English, that is the purview of the teaching and learning of English.
The teaching of math’s and science in English is about knowledge. And English here is just a tool to acquire knowledge, it is not to make you less Malay, less Chinese, less Indian, less Kadazan, less Iban and so on. It doesn’t have the ability to do that anyway.
But some people ask why can’t we learn math’s and science in our mother tongue i.e Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil.
My answer is that there is nothing wrong in that, if we feel that we have the requisite ability to do so in the language. Friends 20 years ago, Or even 10 years ago teachers were in command of the classroom and rarely would you find students knowing more than their teachers and so the teacher was secure within the confines of the curriculum.
Today children seem to know far more than they should  With the advent of the internet and the content available digitally, the curriculum quickly becomes restrictive.
The question here is, if we had the material required in the language we claim as mother tongue, and it was sufficient enough to cope with the abundance of knowledge available In English, then we would have no debate here.
But the reality is that we lack the necessary skills and ability to translate material from English to a mother tongue language quickly enough to satisfy the speed in which knowledge is developing.
A Harry Potter book is translated from English to mandarin in china within two weeks of its publication in the states. It would take about 3 to 6 months to be translated here in Malaysia, if we are lucky.
Where are the Pejuang Bahasa and why are they not making sure that knowledge and information are readily available in Bahasa Malaysia.???
Some people ask why cant we be like the Japanese and use only mother tongue.

It is important that Japan has the ability to gain the trust, enhance international presence and develop our nation through the proficient use of English. (end quote)
Underlying this is of course Japan’s dependence on foreign transactions. Japan is not self-sufficient being only 39% self-sufficient.
And it is expected to cost Japan 1.3 billion us dollars for translation purposes if they chose to take a different route.
There are some people who say that math’s and science should be thought in mother tongue languages in primary schools, and only have math’s and science taught in English at secondary level after they have learnt English.
The reality my friends is that the teaching of all subjects at primary level are taught in parallel, there is no subject that is thought first while the other subjects wait and as in any subject foundations are important, starting them young can only help later.
I had the good fortune of recently attending the Asean Peoples Assembly, there was good news for everybody there when we heard that Asean Governments have ratified the Asean Charter which is a precursor to forming an Asean community ala the EU.
At the assembly there was a question related to the use of a common language for Asean (the concern that English would take precedence), to my surprise it was an Indonesian Malay who had this to say, Do not allow the language to colonize you, you should colonize the language, master it
And wasn’t it Dr Mahathir who said that “You have to be master of knowledge, otherwise you will be slaves to those who have knowledge”.

I remember the time when I got the chance to have a chat with someone whom I adore for his knowledge.

I remember exactly why did he advice me on that.

I even remember what did he advice me about.

I remembered it word for word.

This former leader who is still a leader to some advised me about life. And where should we start on anything or stop upon something.

This is usually divided into layers of age. I am now almost in my third decade of the roman years.

Hypothetically, experience what you get when you don’t get what you wanted.

Humility always pays the price when you’re at it. Being honest and true about something never pays. The best is to act like those blood-sucking-morons of the world like AIG. As a pointer, even chimpanzees and baboons apologize by performing reconciliation protocols. The damage has already been committed. And it’s easy enough for them to hide in the complexity of a system few of us understand on why and how.

A simple apology is the best to be done in three parts:
I’m sorry.
It was my fault.
How can I make it right.

Most people skip the third part and that’s how we can tell sincerity. Gratitude is a very simple thing yet most powerful.

Complaining and whining never solves a problem.

If you live properly the dreams will come to you when Faith set in.

It’s usually about what do we want out of life. A survey says that Malaysians lives an approximately 70years. I am now at the end of 20 and according to sociology, a man settles for what he is at 40.

Surprisingly, the ones at 40 are the ones who are chasing emptiness.

So my conclusion is that at 40, chasing is a matter of survival and at 20, chasing is a matter of etiquette.

Or the other way around.

It's very very dangerous to create so much of anger in a particular group.

Especially when it involves the youth or in this matter - the younger generation who are the future of the country.

It has created doubts - does Dato' Seri Najib really mean when he uttered 'Semangat Setiakawan'?

Why is that so?

What will happen if YB KJ is not in the new cabinet line-up?

What will happen to the people who defamed YB KJ's good name?

The results from the Pilihanraya Kecil in three constituents shows that it is merely not about 'The Talk' but rather towards actions.

It will take Dato' Seri Najib some time to heal UMNO.

The scars are still there in the voters hearts. They are still sceptical about how would UMNO turn out.

We will be here with YB KJ helping him change the minds of the youths towards supporting UMNO and Barisan Nasional.

I think I'm going to start to write one of the reason how YB KJ could win the Ketua Pemuda UMNO seat and how YB KJ was able to gain confidence from a few perwakilan whom I know was supporting another candidate.

Of course from the angle of - through my eyes.

If it would to be through my............., well, I was in the wrong group before. A group where - 'It's all about the Benjamin's.' Sometimes it's about who you are behind with due to politics. Now, I'm on my own. Not quite sure for how long. And nobody has got a clue what's going to happen.

Or maybe it's not good to talk about what happenned.

Just move on and try to be stronger by uniting like what YB KJ said.
